Airplane mode works fine on mine.
Can you check in device manager that you also have the latest version of the wireless button driver? Should be 126.96.36.199. I checked mine and it is still the older version of 188.8.131.52. Go to device manager, Human interface devices, then HP wireless button driver. Double click and go to driver for version.

I think people are having trouble understanding the vague advice given on here so far. Plus the Microsoft Update Catalogue page is a bit confusing at first glance. I think this is a compatability issue with the latest big Windows 10 update that we downloaded a few days ago.
Anyway just to be clear, we have to install the driver manually. After completely uninstalling the driver in Device Manager, HP Assistant asked me to reinstall. However the latest Wireless button driver that HP Assistant asks us to download is 184.108.40.206 The driver we are all having trouble installing via Windows Update is 220.127.116.11
Select the Windows version for the driver. In most peoples case it will be Windows 10 version 1809 (The second option down!)
Create a folder on your desktop and extract the files into that.
Open device manager and go to 'Human Interface Devices' then HP Wireless Button Driver and then the Update Driver tab.
Select the folder on your desktop as your source and it will update.
Reboot Windows then run Windows Update and voila the error should be gone!
Hope this is clearer for people.

Hello all, I ran into this issue on my HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0013dx and the fix is pretty straight forward if you're IT inclined
First, the issue is occuring due to a driver version discrepancy between the latest published HP driver version for the HP Wirelesss Button Driver and Windows' published HID (Human interface device) driver for the same device. As HP needs to quality test the their drivers before they push them, it is usually the case that HP's driver versions are behind Windows, but due to this difference Windows may suggest a newer version is available.
The other reason this is an issue, (particular to my case) is I am running Windows 10 build 1809 which is the current build available from MS. The driver on HP's site is for the previous build, 1803. This build difference is likely the cause behind the deployment issue, and in my experience HP is usually fairly quick about patching/updating their version, so patience is usually my recommendation.
That being said, if you work in IT and dont believe in patience, the fix is as follows:
1.) locate, download, & extract the driver files from Microsoft for 18.104.22.168
2.) extract these into you downloads directory and keep that tab open
3.) download and extract sp88834 (the current version of HP Wireless Button Driver, 22.214.171.124
4.) navigate to the extracted directory of sp88834, open the "Base" subfolder and replace "wirelessbuttondriver64.cat" "WirelessButtonDriver64.sys" & "WirelessButtonDriver.inf" with the ones downloaded from the Microsoft Catalog site
5.) navigate up out of base and run "HPSetup.exe" & "install.cmd" as administrator (these run very quickly and do not give you a GUI
6.) reboot and check for Windows updates, you should no longer see the update
This essentially "hijacks" HP's installer to inject the current Microsoft driver version, and should be done at your own risk. You can also simply hide the update via http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f22d5fdb-59cd-4275-8c95-1be17bf70b21/wushowhide.diagcab
