I was wondering if I can upgrade the memory on my computer. If so, what is the maximum I can upgrade to?

Hey,
You should tell us what is your PC. I searched with the serial number you entered and found an HP 17-AK001DS.
If it' true, the maximum memory is 16GB (2x8gb). When your unit came, you got only 1x8GB. You can see what memory is ocmpatibme with your product on Crucial for example (https://www.crucial.fr/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-17-ak001ds)
But before, verify your product is a 17-AK001DS!

Hi,
Yes, as @Old_Dad posted the max RAM is 16GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM
I just wanted to add that you should replace the Hard Drive with an SSD which would probably give a more noticeable boost to the everyday performance of the PC than the extra RAM.
Take care,
David
