error code 303 in the start up test

If your hard drive is completely dead (and I've yet to see a 303 error that wasn't), you will not be able to recover any of your old data unless you send the original drive off for data recovery. Basically, the recovery company will find a completely identical drive, open them both up in a clean room, and replace the broken parts. But this is very tedious, expensive work. I've never seen it less than $700.

I have an HP g62-34ous and i was doing a start up test and my daughter accidentally unplugged the computer and has now crashed....it says disk error please press alt ctl del to restart and no matter what i do even in the BIOS doesn't help...its been down for a month and i wanna use it again but cant afford to take it to someone to fix it

Kyle, you can order recovery discs from HP even if your laptop is not under warranty.

Kyle, if your machine is giving you a 303 error, then you have a failure of the drive itself. So, recovery media alone won't get you going.

Expect to replace the hard drive AND reload from the recovery disc.
