Hi @celeb010

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand your keyboard is producing incorrect or extra inputs when certain keys are pressed. To help identify the cause, let’s go through a few checks  could you please confirm whether the Fn key light is currently on and also share the product number of your unit? Meanwhile, I will request you to follow the troubleshooting steps outlined below.

Check if Sticky Keys or Filter Keys are enabled

  • Go to Settings
  • Go to Accessibility
  • click on Keyboard.
  • Turn off Sticky Keys, Filter Keys, and Toggle Keys.

Test the keyboard layout settings

  • Go to Settings
  • Click on Time & Language
  • Click on Language & Region.
  • Make sure the keyboard layout is “US QWERTY” or your preferred layout, and remove any extras.

Reset the keyboard driver

  • Open Device Manager
  • Click on Keyboards
  • Right-click Standard PS/2 Keyboard → Uninstall.
  • Restart the laptop and Windows will reinstall a fresh driver.

Check for stuck modifier keys

  • Lightly press Shift, Ctrl, Alt, and Fn multiple times to ensure none are stuck.
  • A stuck Shift key can cause multiple key outputs.

Perform a clean boot

  • Disable all non-Microsoft startup apps (msconfig → Services → Hide Microsoft → Disable All).
  • Restart and test — this helps identify conflicting software.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
