i need to replace my keyboard because several keys dont work and recently new keys have started to act up but besides that the letters have faded from them. i have a hp pavilion g6-2123us notebook pc  Product Number B5A04UA

and the replacement on amazon was like 50-60 dollars but i also saw replacements as low as 15 on amazon and ebay.   does the exact number count or just the series like g6-2100 will fit my laptop  this is the ad from amazon:

Actually seeing this in the Service Manual:

 

Keyboard (includes keyboard cable):For use in the United States, Black  681800-001

 

Manual

 

That is pretty clearly the Manual which covers your model.

Any keyboard from the g6-2xxx series will work. The replacement parts are not specific to the identical model or it would be even more complex than it already is. Bear in mind a lot of keyboards you see sold cheap on eBay and amazon are aftermarket and are obviously cheaply made. If you can, get an exact part number genuine HP replacement. Worth the few extra bucks. Do you have a Manual to work from? Right now links are down but expected to be back later today.

Thank you for the links and help, the keyboard looks like it doesnt have a cover but i could just use the cover from my broken one if it comes off or maybe thats just a generic display picture. either way i ty
