i want to upgrade my laptop ram but which should i buy?

If you are running a 32 bit operating system like you posted, the maximum memory that can be used by Windows is limited to 4 GB.

 

If you install a 64 GB operating system most HP notebooks that come with Intel 5th generation core processors can support 2 x 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 MHz memory.

 

You can find the memory upgrade information in chapter 1 of your notebook's maintenance and service guide.
