my laptop charges till a fixed point like now it is 89% and doesnt increase even if adapter is plugged in . When plugged off it decreases by two or five percent and the system immediately shuts down . this is happening from quite some time and if i will keep it plugged in then the battery will swell and the warranty will void. I don't know what i am supposed to do. i tried downloading this software for the battery issue "sp165842" when i try to install it hgets downloaded and then it shows the file extractin failed . and i can't do anything else.

Hi @Devendra007,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a battery calibration or malfunction issue with your laptop. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Battery Calibration:

  • Fully charge your laptop while it is off. Once charged, use the laptop until the battery is completely drained and it shuts down. Do this cycle of full charge and discharge a few times to help calibrate the battery.

Check for Battery Health:

  • Access your laptop's battery report to check its health. On Windows, you can generate a battery report by running the command powercfg /batteryreport in the command prompt. Examine the report to see if the battery capacity has degraded.

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Ensure that your laptop's BIOS and battery drivers are up to date https://support.hp.com/us-en. Manufacturers often release updates that fix known issues with hardware components.

Physical Inspection:

  • Check for physical damage or swelling in the battery. If the battery is swelling, it should be replaced immediately as it can pose safety hazards.

Power Adapter and Connections:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is working correctly and the connections are secure. Sometimes, issues can be related to the power supply rather than the battery itself.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

to start with Battery Calibration: i have stated that i can't use my battery fully if i have charged my laptop fully then  it would shut off around 92 if plugged off and i would try to restart it again it doesn't restart and even sometimes shows blue screen with different error codes each time.

Check for Battery Health: i have checked it's still good.
Power Adapter and Connections,Update BIOS and Drivers:   nothing wrong with these.
 so nothing worked jerry
