When you do not identify your desktop or laptop PC, you tie our hands behind our backs. Help us to help you.
When logged into Windows, hold down the Windows key and tap the R key once.
That will open the Windows run dialogue
Type in msinfo32 and press enter.
The ninth line is the SKU and the HP product number. Kindly post it in your next reply in your thread.
The System SKU/Product ID will enable us to determine the hardware configuration of your notebook.

Your laptop is delivered with 8 GB.
While logged into Windows type sysinfo in the search box and press enter.
Take a look at the image of the system information dialogue below and you will see what Windows has determined is installed in my desktop PC.
Use it as an example to determine what yours has installed.

That means one of two things.
Your laptop was inadvertently mistakenly configured and delivered with 4 GB of installed memory or one of the modules has failed.
Is your laptop still in warranty?
