As far as I can tell, the processors offered in the model series do not meet Microsoft's minimum W11 processor requirements.

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2/22H3.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

The only advantage to upgrading to W11 would be that your notebook would continue to get Microsoft operating system feature updates and security updates beyond W10's end of support date of October 2025.

The disadvantage is once a year, you will have to use that workaround to update to the newer builds of W11 when they are rolled out once a year...for example the new W11 24H2 release in September/October of 2024.

There may be issues with drivers, but the only way you would know that would be to upgrade to W11.

If things don't work right, you have 10 days to easily go back to W10 as long as you don't delete any of the W11 upgrade files or the Windows.old folder.

Hi Paul, the upgrade to Win 11  took a little longer then i thought...

but it all went well, just one issue...

The SD card reader does not show up...

i tried different SD cards...

There is an: SD Storage Class controller

But if i click on it it says: Error Code10

Do you have an idea how to fix this?

Thanks Joost

Hi, Joost:

Does the device have a hardware ID?

Use this guide to find the hardware ID for a device:

How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices in the Device Manager (howtogeek.com)

Your notebook's support page doesn't even have a W10 SD card reader driver, so I have no idea who the manufacturer is.

Hi Paul,

thanks for your patience.

The Hardware ID for the SD Storage Class Controller

Value:

SD\VID_27&OID_5048&PID_SD64G&REV_6.0

SD\VID_27&OID_5048&PID_SD64G

And maybe this makes sense to you:

As soon as i take out the SD card the 'SD Storage Class Controller' disappears from the Storage controllers list in Device Manager...

I hope you can help

thanks anyway, Joost

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I cannot find a relevant reference for installing a driver for that device.

Windows update works a little bit differently on W11 than it does on W10.

There is an advanced options section, and, in that section, there is an optional updates section.

Are there any drivers in that section pending to install?

You are probably going to have to go back to W10 or live without a working SD card reader.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for all your time and effort to help me.

This is what the people at HP Support also told me, but i was still hoping that there would be a way round it...

Again thanks... untill another day.
