ram upgrade

This is from the Service Manual:

Two non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots DDR3L-1600 single channel support (DDR3L-1600 downgrade to DDR3L-1333) DDR3L-1600 single channel support Supports up to 8 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations ● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)

Service Manual

See pages 37 and 44 for "how to" on memory upgrade.

Normally I rely on the Manual but in this case I believe your laptop can actually take up to 16 gigs of memory. It has 2 slots and can take at least one 8 gig module. If it will take and 8 gig in one slot it will take a second one in the second slot. Your processor and chipset are advanced enough to handle 16 gigs. There is some risk, however. To play it safe add another 4 gig module to have 8 gigs total. Most people do not need any more than 8 gigs anyway and memory is kind of expensive right now (goes up and down like the price of oil).

Specified modules:

8-GB (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) 693374-005 4-GB (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) 691740-005

This is expensive for a 4 gig module but is the right kind for you to buy:
