Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

I recently had a problem with my HP Victus 15-fb3093dx. One day, I let the battery drain down to 31–32% and turned it off because I couldn’t find my charger—which I found two days later. When I plugged it in to charge, the LED showed “Charging,” and I turned it on without any issues, but I immediately noticed that the battery level wasn’t going up from 31% When I unplugged the cable, thinking it might be connected incorrectly or something similar, it turned off. It only works when the cable is plugged in, but the LED still shows “Charging.” The official diagnosis is “Replace (45),” and the fault ID is: QAHKS4-D1TD5M-9246MF-C72303

HP Support Assistant tells me to replace the battery.

@AndrewST1,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your Failure ID code QAHKS4-D1TD5M-9246MF-C72303 means this: HP Customer Support - Service Center:  "HP Battery Check has identified a critical failure in your system that requires repair. IMPORTANT: The test found a problem with the battery and it may need to be replaced."

Your HP Victus 15-fb3093dx (Product No. BM4X8UA) uses the 70 Wh, 4-cell Li-ion polymer battery (WK04XL). The HP spare part number is M39179-005.  You can buy a quality WK04XL battery online, such as this Amazon purchase example: Amazon.com: 70.07Wh WK04XL M39179-005 Laptop Battery Replacement for HP OMEN 16-b 16-c HP Victus 16-....

Thank you very much for your response and for providing an example of the replacement part I should purchase. If my warranty is still valid, could I send my device to HP so they can handle the replacement if something goes wrong, or do I have to do it myself? How would that work in this case?
Thank you in advance.

@AndrewST1,

You're welcome!

Yes, if it is the case that your HP Victus 15-fb3093dx is still under its HP Limited Warranty, I recommend contacting HP Support Mexico before purchasing a replacement battery yourself.

The Failure ID (QAHKS4-D1TD5M-9246MF-C72303) indicates that HP Hardware Diagnostics detected a battery failure ("Replace (45)"). Be sure to provide this Failure ID when you contact HP, as it helps confirm the diagnosis.

If HP determines that your battery failure is covered under warranty, HP will typically arrange for the notebook to be serviced through an HP Authorized Service Center in Mexico or provide instructions for sending the notebook to an HP repair facility. The exact repair process depends on your warranty status and location.

I would not recommend replacing the battery yourself whilst the notebook is still under warranty. Allowing HP to perform the repair ensures that both the replacement battery and the repair are covered under the warranty.

If your warranty has expired, then replacing the battery with a genuine HP M39179-005 (WK04XL, 70 Wh) battery remains a reasonable option.

You can check your warranty status on HP's warranty check page using your notebook's serial number. If the warranty is still active, contact HP Support Mexico to start a warranty claim and mention the Failure ID above.

Kind Regards,
