pavilion ab523tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i bought new hp ab523tx laptop yesterday and noticed touchpad is not working as it should. its working fine when i use gesture and tap at the centre of the toucpad but when i tap at the edges(all four edges) , neither tap works nor gestures.

is this manufacturing defect or its just the case for all hp ab series laptops?

Also there is gap between the keyboard base and lower base joint.

No this doesn't happen with any laptops especially with ab series because I myself is using ab219tx. And it's touchpad works great also at the edges.

Your problem might because of outdated or no drivers. Try to update your touch drivers. If you still faces the problem after updating drivers then this might be hadware fault. Then you must visit hp service centre or ask the seller to replace the laptop

Are you indicating that the hardware casing is not connected properly?  If so, this may be why you are having issues with the TouchPad.  Did you check for any loose screws?  You can try reviewing the following document to see if the TouchPad issue can be resolved.  Please post back with the results: Troubleshooting when TouchPad does not work
