HP Notebook - 15q-bu044tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello sir,

I have seen some of your answer related to my issue that's why I am writing this message to you. My laptop model is HP Notebook - 15q-bu044tu. The camera of the laptop is not opening. It's showing "We can't find your camera..." or error code 0xA00F4244. The driver file for the camera or imaging device is also absent in the device manager. There is no key in the keyboard with the option for opening or closing the camera. I have done a scan for new devices, that also has not worked. I tried to download the driver file by the option "Add legacy hardware", after that clicking the option Camera there is a window opening for choosing the model of the device. Still, this window remains empty for any unknown reason. I even tried to download the driver file externally, but that was also an unsuccessful attempt. Please help to solve my problem. I have attached some screenshots.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Error messages like ‘0xA00f4244<NoCamerasAreAttached>’ don’t tell us much about what’s wrong.  And they certainly don’t help us fix the problem.  HP laptops and desktops come in all types of configurations but try these basic steps to get your camera working.

1.     Are you sure your computer has a camera?

Many models of HP computers did not come with webcams.  Before you go any further, check and be sure there is a camera lens staring back at you.  You can look up the product specifications for your model for confirmation.

If you have an external web cam, try disconnecting it, restarting the PC, and then reconnecting the USB cable.  Or try testing it in a different USB port or even a different PC.

2.     Look for the Kill Switch

Newer HP laptops have a Kill Switch feature designed to physically disconnect your webcam.  This is helpful for preventing bad people from activating your webcam remotely but can be overlooked when trying to use the webcam for video conferencing.  If your model has a kill switch, make sure it’s switched on.

3.     Try a hard reset

When Windows doesn’t see devices like cameras, sometimes it just needs to be forced to look again.  Try a power reset.

Once detected, you should see the camera in the Device Manager.  Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.  Expand the Cameras section to see your camera.

TIP:  You can disable the web cam here in the Device Manager by right-clicking on the camera and select Disable Device.  Don’t forget to enable it later if needed.

4.     Install the driver

Sometimes Windows needs the latest camera driver for the camera to function well.  While in the Device Manager, right-click on your camera and select Update Driver.  Then click Search Automatically for updated driver software.  The latest driver is always available via Windows Update.

@Echo_Lake thanks for your support, but the problem is still there. My laptop has a camera and it was in working condition before and maybe suddenly due to some updates, the camera driver got uninstalled. My laptop has no "Kill switch". Please see the images I attached in my post, the camera driver is not there in device manager and nothing happened after doing a scan for new devices in the device manager.

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
