HP ENVY x360 - 15-ds0502sa - Suddenly stops working, screes goes all black and starts flashing.

Dear all,

I'm having another issue with my HP ENVY x360. For the third time in a couple of weeks, while I was processing some data (nothing too demanding), the laptop stopped working and after 10/15 seconds the screen went black and started flashing (video attached). The only way to stop it was a forced restart (holding the power button).

Any suggestion on what might cause it and on how to fix it?

I don't actually have a fix for you but I had the same problem on my HP Spectre x360  15-df1043dx after I updated my operating system from windows 10v1909 to Windows 10v2004. The strange thing for me was that it went away (the flickering  and black screen) and worked just fine when I unplugged the power adapter from my laptop. I never did get it fixed and had even worse problems when I attempted to revert back to the original factory settings. Because I had updated my operating system the original windows 10 was overwritten and the attempted factory reset was a disaster. Finally got my laptop up and running again today, but with a few minor driver issues.  Long story short, does your screen come back on or stop flickering if you unplug the power adapter? I'm just curious if maybe I had a similar problem as you.

Hey then! Thanks for sharing your experience. To be fair I didn't try but, as I've seen from the video, it wasn't plugged in, so I might try the opposite! Will let you know!
