I TRIED THE CONTINUOUS F10 OPTION. NO GO. THE COMPUTER IS STILL ON WITH THE MESSAGE BOOT DEVICE NOT FOUND AND TO PLEASE INSTALL AN OPERATING SYSTEM ON MY HARD DISK.
SO!! I OUT OF START WORK ING AND CAN MOVE FORWARD WITH CLIENT W/O COMPUTER

diagnostics says everything ok but still does not accept hard disk

Just be sure to get one of at least as large a capacity as the original to use HP Recovery Discs to reinstall Windows. For instance if you have a 320gb hdd you could use a 500gb but not a 250gb hdd.
Enter BIOS setup by tapping/holding the F10 key immediately after powering on the laptop.Use Diagnostics to test your hdd.
If you need more help please post back with full Model number and Product number as listed on the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop.(may be under battery)
