Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After adding an epson printer, a windows update followed and booted up with black screen. I restored to earlier operating date and booted up no problem. However M/S still wants to update and black screen re-occurs. So I wait 10 - 15 minutes and black screen go's away. I removed the epson printer from the but the start up is still plaqued by black screen at start-up.

Ideas to correct?

The latest Window Update created an issue with HP machines.  You should read this thread and perhaps disable the App Readiness service

Well, I'm not any expert, but here's some googling that offers little hope for the goll-dang Windows 10's FORCED updates.  I also have experienced that, the last update I went back to the earlier restore that the Win update created.  Probably should make a restore point every few days.  I hope your experience isn't upcoming for all.  I don't see much hope in the following.   Look at all these before doing anything.

This one sounds like your problem:

Many talk about if it is Black Screen with Cursor  This one discusses that and has lots of comments:

I would never, ever turn off updates.  You will be a victim of a known flaw that you have failed to patch.
