Well i dont know why but the computer is showing signs of problem again mainly when scrolling 😞
Its still better than before and still usable but im starting to wonder if this is only a temporary solution 😞
Are you trying other drivers? If the driver you are currently using has issues with scrolling, it will always have issues with scrolling etc.
The trick here is to find a driver that minimizes all these issues the best.

current driver version is 18.1.7.8,
tried 18.1.7.9, things were fine forsometime but then again i was facing same erratic behaviour with the control zone as rest of the people in this thread so i tried to use sp65951 as mentioned, i had no idea that this will REFLASH THE FIRMWARE. and now i am stuck with the dead touchpad.tried all the methods of unistalling/re-installing drivers. i think i need to reflash the system with compatible firmware. if you guys have any idea it wud b a gr8 help. trackpad number says TM2960.
Thanx

So has there been a solution discovered, or a recall perhaps? I just bought this Envy a couple weeks ago now and at first I just thought I was using it wrong. Now i realize the control zone is just complete garbadge. Has anything worked long term for anyone yet?

There is no solution yet.
This is what i suggested a few pages back:
The most current "stock" version that comes with this laptop is version is: sp65488
Perhaps if you have free time you could go through and test and try different versions of these drivers. Maybe experimenting with driver versions similar to the stock version vs ones that are quite different. Since there are literaly hundreds of these drivers to try so for now its kind of a guess and check.
Note: Each folder contains a range of driver versions.. so yes, there are A LOT to try.
Here is the index: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/
If you do end up trying them, please report back if you find one that appear stable.

UPDATE -
I have just recived my computer back from repair and have been useing it for a few hours and it is working great! The repair slip said that they were able to duplicate the problem and replaced the touchpad. This just further convinces me that this is a hardware problem not a software problem.
