I bought the same HP Envy laptop (m6-n012dx) about two weeks ago and am havng very similar issues with the trackpad. Sometimes it will work fine and other times it becomes incredibly glitchy and highlites/clicks on random things, making it almost impossible to use. Seeing as many people are having this problem, it would be really nice to get an actual answer from someone.

i was very hesitant to restore my computer but i did. and the track pad began to work well again. then it started to go bad again. restoring it, only helped for a little while

Yea this control zone thing has been a total flop. When I bought the laptop I figured it wouldn't be that big a deal, it still clicks right? Well when even on the heavy setting, having my fan on moves the mouse, you know there is a problem. I have to use another mouse because this touch pad is such a flop. I never thought I'd use the touchscreen feature but I'm glad I have it, for if I didn't i wouldn't be able to click on anything! All features turned off and setting to heavy, lets see if I can put up with this until I get my next , non-HP, laptop in five years...

Hi Everyone,

@aupdike10Try reinstalling your Synaptics TouchPad driver to see that helps. I have also included an HP support document Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad which has a section on adjusting the sensitivity.

@Orioles03and SergioGonzalez please let me the operating system and product number of the notebook you are using?

I'm having the exact same problem on the same model and it's starting to become incredible annoying as I bought the computer not even that long ago.

I've tried doing a manufacture recovery, a recovery back to a certain date when it worked, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, hard reset. fix programs that might be blocking it and everything else that I've seen HP and anyone else saying would maybe work. I was worried when I bought this one because HP was coming out with new models of it every week or so, which clearly seems to have been because the reason that they're faulty just as this one seems to be.

I would love if any of the HP support people could come up with another solution other than troubleshoot it and reinstall your drivers as I've not seen this work for anyone and the issue is clearly more difficult than that. I shouldn't have to resolve to an actual mouse when the computer is this new and should have the technology of a touchpad, which any old computer had no problems with.

Hi Reivenxo,

If you have already tried the installing the drivers then I suggest that you call HP. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

Attention, HP Support Agents.

I have the same model HP Envy m6-n012dx laptop that I purchased less than 2 weeks ago from Best Buy and I'm experiencing the same issues. I've performed a hard reset of the laptop, a system restore to the day I purchased it, updated synaptics drivers, uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, BIOS update, changed sensitivity settings on touchpad - but it all leads to the same result. The cursor jumps around and behaves erratically on the screen, even if you reboot it and start using it again, after about 15-20 minutes (or sooner) it starts acting up again.

What is the solution or verdict on this issue, as it's easy to see that there are literally hundreds of consumers that have purchased HP Envy laptops with a Control Zone touchpad from Synaptics having this exact same issue?

Is there a way that someone at HP can grab one of their laptops, recreate the issue, troubleshoot and provide a solution for it?? I'm sure I echo the same sentiment as most of these other forum subscribers when I say that I feel like I'm wasting my time here. I'm asking for help and either getting an auto-response "update your drivers" answer, or not receiving help at all.

I'm NOT purchasing a mouse as an alternative solution. Either there's a fix for this, or I'll return my laptop to Best Buy, as I'm still within their 15-day return policy window, and purchase an ASUS or DELL Laptop instead. I've never experienced such a huge annoyance with an HP product as this and from what I've seen on all of my forum searches, HP has no solution for it.

I've also spoken with HP Total Care, and guess what their solution was? Take it back to Best Buy and get a replacement HP Envy .... seriously

Please provide an update as soon as possible. This has gone on long enough.

I had the same problem with my trackpad.  After trying all of the above fixes and calling HP support, I finally took my computer back and got a new one.  The new one worked great--for two months--now I am having the same problem again.  These trackpads are definitely faulty and I am ready to take this computer back and not get another HP.

One of the solutions offered to me by HP support was to hook up a mouse!!!  Unbelievable!  I buy a new laptop and they say the trackpack doesn't work very well, so attach a separate mouse.  What kind of product are they selling?

Hi, j757.

The product overall is good, except for the Control Zone touchpad that apparently has a defect. Unfortunately this is a deal breaker for me unless it can be fixed. It's the touchpad for goodness sake - an essential input for a notebook! I would get another HP but without that model touchpad. I can't believe you're going back for a 3rd HP. If HP can't figure this out, I'll go to ASUS or DELL which also have great, comparable notebook lines.

HP needs to give this some significant attention.

Hi,

I said I would NOT get another HP!  I'm not that stupid!
