@kata95 wrote:Mine was fine with the AMD june/july 2018 drivers. Unfortunately windows updated and now I´m having crashes again. I really doubt I will buy HP ever again. It´s a pity because I´d really love this machine if it worked.
I encountered similar windows update that causes driver update with older/buggy driver version 22.xx despite driver version 25.xx being superiour. It forced me to clear Windows update folder method https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/how_to_delete_pending_windows_updates.html

@zt7301 wrote:Quick update. Since 18.8.1 was released, thought I'd test it out. After install, I noticed in the radeon settings that it incorrectly identified memory as DDR3, whereas 18.7.1 correctly identified as DDR4. I then ran it through the usual test of hardware video acceleration after a sleep state, and it immediately crashed with a video scheduler internal error. So, back to 18.7.1 I go. I did get a blue screen once so far on 18.7.1 when the laptop was cooling down after an extended hot run... It was a VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE as I was looking at HWMonitor watching temps come down.
I'm currently running Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-18.10.1-Oct18 on my 15z bq-100-cto which is updated from Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-18.7.1-July19.

Off topic but an interesting read. I have an hp envy x360 15m-cp0011d coming (128 GB SSD). I would like to upgrade it. I see that some are running M.2 NVME drives. I have an available M.2 SATA Crucial MX500; will it work in the envy or should I pick up an NVME M.2 drive on the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales?
Thanks in advance
Dan

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I understand that the Notebook keeps crashing when you play high-end games.
I suggest you try updating the Graphics driver from Device Manager.
- In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
- In the list of devices, look for Display Adapter, expand the list
- Right-click the Graphics driver and select Update Driver Software.
- Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the updated driver.
- Restart your computer to complete the installation of the updates.
Also update the Bios from Here
Please Note that the HP ENVY 15m-bp100 x360 is not a gaming system and it might not support high-end games.
Thank you. 🙂

HP Envy x360 15z with Ryzen 5 2500U nearly plays like Xbox One level results in a mobile form factor which serves as good enough hardware level for Xbox One ported games.

I use NVME M2 type for my SSD upgrades. I used Toshiba NVME M2 with 512 GB.
Notice the notch with the M2 slot (picture from notebookcheck.net for BQ-102-ng model)

Thank you for the quick response - I do not see the picture, it shows this
So, when it arrives I check to see what the notches are, and go with that... I actually found and downloaded the user guide where it says this - SSD 128GB M2 SATA-3 TLC for the hard drive. I expect I'll find SATA. I will come back and update.

From force update method, Adrenalin 18.5.1 (24.20.11016.4) driver seems to fix locked resolution problem with games like Witcher 3 and Divinity Original Sin 2. Brightness screen controls still works and it seems to be stable.

Just a heads up for anyone else with the 15m-bq1xx: I noticed a new BIOS available on the driver download page, F.19. It appears to be focused on a security update (which subsequently required me to reset my windows hello pin), but it also appears to update the AGESA version to 1.1.0.5, and changed the dedicated video memory allocation (at least on my laptop with 16gb ram) to 1gb instead of the 256mb the old bios allocated. That last bit should help people having problems getting software to run properly that has issues detecting dynamic vram allocation. I didn't notice any changes in the bios settings menus.
I'm still running the 18.7.1 drivers without issue. I'll update if I notice any other changes as a result of the BIOS update.
