Thank you, I’ll keep that in mind. I read the linked discussion. My question: My M.2 drive is NVMe. Could this be the issue? I plan to keep Windows on the M.2.

Yes, it is an NVME, and my advice before putting an extra disk is to put a new size NVMe disk of 1 TB, 2 Tb or more. It saves on laptop weight, less heat and longer battery life.

If you are using the Samsung drive for storage, it should not matter if the boot drive is NVMe.

 

I edited my post above and included several more discussions.

 

I don't know why but you are not alone.

 

I also agree 100% with Resistencia's comments.

 

I see no point in adding a 2.5" drive which adds heat and drains the battery faster when you can just install a larger capacity NVMe SSD unless you are adamant about using a 2.5" drive for storage.
