My computer works wonderfully.

The battery is new(ish) and charges right up to 100% and the battery "gauge" on the taskbar reads accurately.

If I remove my AC power adapter and run the computer on battery for 3 or 4 hours or more (depending on intensity of apps) the battery runs down, as expected, to the point where the adapter needs to be plugged back in.

HOWEVER, when I do this, the batter will NOT begin recharging......UNTIL I power down the laptop, remove the power adapter, remove the battery, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then reinstall the battery then plug in the adapter and boot up.

THEN the battery will begin to charge just fine.

What gives?

I should add that I experimented in just shutting down the laptop then removing and replacing the battery (without going through the extra steps of removing/replacing adapter and long-pressing power button).

Computer not only rebooted itself when I put the battery back in....it also immediately began charging.

I guess the only additional "process" I could check is to have the battery in its "non-charging status" and try just removing and replacing it (without even shutting down the computer) and see if THAT triggers the charging mode.

I'll try that while I await your response to my msinfo post.

Thanks again for your help.

I followed these instructions.....but I'm a little confused/concerned about the sequence, because when I performed step #4, the computer booted itself and ran on the battery. However, step 5 and 6 suggest that the computer should not have started up when I pushed/held the power button. (otherwise, why does step 6 say "Start notebook" when it is already running?)

Oops, sorry......I missed your 4:13 post and had gone to your 4:14 post before downloading/updating that Intel Corporate (ME) Firmware Component

Shall I do that now.....THEN perform the Please < calibrate > your battery instructions again?
