On visiting the HP partner store for replacement, they said the whole lid is to be replaced which is half the price of laptop itself.
Also please let me know where this replacement screen can be bought from.

It's great to hear from you again.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us again.
As you mentioned you contacted HP authorized service center and they told you should replace the laptop lid.
If the display raw panel and the lid is a part of the screen then you will have to replace the complete kit.
Or please contact HP phone support and get an onsite service arranged they will replace the complete screen if you have difficulties in replacing the part by yourself.

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
I understand that the Laptop screen is cracked and you would like to check on the repair.
I request you to contact our Phone Support and they will be able to assist you with the repair
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.
