Hello everyone
I appreciate any help I can get with this weird error.
I reset my PC back to factory and this error persists.
We can't find your camera
0xA00F4244
It is a built-in camera. I'm on windows 11. HP Omen.
It had said drivers are up to date. The I deleted them but haven't been able to find them again.
Thank you for any help you can offer. I was given the run around between Microsoft and HP.

Your product is supported by the HP Cloud Recovery Tool.
It may be convenient to restore your system rather than resetting windows. I do not know if it restore to win10 or win11
Try the driver listed in this thread

Thank you so much for the prompt reply, it has been a busy few day.
I just tried the solution, and the recovery tool did not proceed because it asked for a USB flash drive recovery which I do not have. It would not proceed.
The link to the drivers isn't working either i'm afraid.
I will continue trying to find the drivers to install them. In the meantime here is an image of the error that comes up when I try to access the camera.
I used this just fine for a whole year and have no idea how or why this happened now.
Thank you for trying to help me

Sorry, there was something wrong with that link
Try this one
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81543.exe
For a full restore get a 16gb flash and try that cloud recovery

Thank you for trying to assist me. The drivers could not even load when I downloaded them. It would just go to the firmware update and then when I click next it would just disappear.
I will have to attempt the usb flash recovery tool that you mentioned.

I downloaded and looked at that file and I am sorry, it is not a driver, it is a firmware update to the camera. Probably does not apply to your model.
Have you run the HP support assistant? Possibly it can fine the correct driver
https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/hp-support-assistant
the following are drivers for the HP True Vision camera. Not sure if it is the you have but it is not a firmware updates like that other I posted
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64501-65000/sp64853.exe

Thanks once again Beemer!
The HP support assistant does not complete setup, I get a message that "There is a new version, setup will now close". When I try to find the new version, I get sent on a loop of HP pages that leads to nowhere 🙂
So if you have a link to the newer HP support assistant somewhere, I'd appreciate it.
YouCam did not work for me either. It said, should only install on HP PCs. ironically of course I do have an HP PC. dont know why that happens

Not sure what is happening at that link but
https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/hp-support-assistant
worked for me. Possibly you are not in "us-en" and the link fails?
There has actually been some problems getting the latest support assistant
At one time it was in the Microsoft store but I just looked there and cannot find it (I have windows 11)
The previous time I looked it was there. Maybe HP has temporarily withdrawn it???
Our expert @Prométhée may be able to find it even though he claims he is not a magician
.
I am going to give up on finding your camera driver. Maybe you can call support.

[edit] You may have a popup blocker stopping access to that support assistant link. Try firefox or some other browser

Thank you for trying! It is a real nuisance. I’m in the US.
I backed up all my files. I’m going to reset this Laptop fully to factory.
Created a recovery boot flashdrive but even that isn’t loading from bios.
I’m going to try the factory reset from control panel. If that fails I’ll try the HP recovery drive again… I don’t know .. at this point I shoulda just bought a webcam but it’s frustrating that a built-in cam dies like this for no reason I missed many zoom meetings already
thank you so much for everything

hi
Sorry, I didn't read the whole post, too long..
for hp support assistant, so if it opens, what is the version in place?
when using hp support assistant, downloaded from hp link, you don't have the most recent version!
It is updated via microssoft store, so you can have the latest update, without knowing it, but we can no longer find, unless I am mistaken, a version directly from them
the link here works for me
HP Support Assistant | HP® Official Site
Version 9.19.52.0
I currently have the version
Version: 9.20.22.0
older but see this
And no @BeemerBiker indeed I am not a magician, but I have been helping people with computers, for a very very long time, and I have learned to look for a lot of things .. Unfortunately sometimes there are limits 😉
was this reply helpful , or just say thank you ? Click on the yes button
