The front camera on my Chromebook is blurry and has artifacts (dirt on the lens?). The rear camera is fine (but useless for video chats). Following a recommendation on a different thread (now locked) for this problem, I "power washed" the Chromebook. That did not help. I've cleaned the bezel in front of the lens with a lint-free cloth, again to no avail. Given the number of messages I've seen about this, it appears to be a fairly common problem. Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks.

Hi @paulr73
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Appreciate you trying the steps. I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your Chromebook.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Have a great day!

Thanks. Th device is under warranty. I had a chat with HP service. All options involved some combination of paying for shipment and losing use of the Chromebook for the better part of a week (maybe a bit less if I extended my warranty). The nearest service centers are 65 to 70 miles away. I'll just live with the defective camera (and warn my friends that blurry front cameras on HPs seem to be not uncommon).

I have the same unfocusable front camera problem on my HP Chromebook x2, as reported in this thread by others. It is permanently focused at approx 2 inches from the lens, out of focus at all other distances, and is therefore useless for video chat. This behavior is the same when using the built-in camera app as well as Zoom, Hangouts, etc. I am unable to access any HP support personnel in this time of COVID19, and my warranty will expire in 20 days. I have registered my computer, but no other resources recommended online in this forum, on HP sites, and on HPSupportus Facebook Messenger have been able to provide service. Perhaps Asmita6658 could assist me as she has done for others?
Thank you,
RecardoUno
