Purchased new HP laptop and the pinch zoom is driving me insane, old laptop had an option to turn off via the Settings for the mouse/touchpad under device settings. No device setting tab can be found under the mouse settings or advanced settings, let alone a check box to turn off. HP support centre chap said it is no longer an option available but that seems wrong!!!!
It makes the laptop impossible for me to use. Windows 10 home version, on HP Pavilion-15 cs0013na.
Anyone provide any assistance on this please?

In replying to your question, the IT folks are just telling you how you would turn off pinch zoom if the option to do so were still present. They don't seem to realize that for many users IT'S NOT THERE ANYMORE. It's been removed as a configuratino option from the touchpad settings. I have the same problem. The pinch zoom was driving me nuts and there is no longer any way to turn it off. I tried for weeks to find a solution. I even found some instructions on how to disable it in the Windows Registry but that didn't work either.
Here's at least a partial solution that DID finally work for me...
Most of the time pinch zoom was causing headaches was when I was browsing the internet. I use Chrome as my browser so I found and installed a Chrome Add On named Zoom Block that disables automatic zooming in Chrome. (Note that you can still zoom when you want to by clicking a Zoom button the extension adds to your browser's toolbar. If you use IE/Edge, Firefox, or etc. check to see if there's a similar extension for your browser.

I had this problem, and was driving me crazy but you can fix it by going into the start menu, seach for Synaptics Touchpad App. Then you can find the settings and turn off pinch Zoom etc. UPDATE There is still a bug, in that Even once you turn it off, it still zooms in sometimes and messes up FB. So turn off 2 finger scrolling, turn on Chiral 1 finger scrolling, (which means moving your finger in a circle.) there is a little settings symbol, scrolling with the arrows is also a solution.

I recently bought an HP Pavilion - 15-cs3095nr with this same problem.
I was unable to install the Synaptics Touchpad Control panel from the Microsoft Store because of some kind of error.
My computer called the Touchpad device an Elan Touchpad - so I searched for that on the internet. I first downloaded/installed a new Elan Touchpad driver, but that did not add a disable button under windows device settings.
Then I searched for Elan Touchpad again and found a control panel/settings program on the Microsoft store and I downloaded/installed that successfully. Then if I bring up the Elan Touchpad Settings Program from the Windows Programs - I can configure the Touchpad to disable all those 2 finger gestures - such as annoying for me pinch to zoom feature. I don't know if I really needed to update the driver first or not.
BTW windows device settings still doesn't have a pinch to zoom disable, but I can configure it from the Elan Touchpad Setting Program.
This took me several days to stumble onto this solution - so hopefully it helps some others and saves them that time.
Best Regards

I have a brand new HP Pavillion B&O laptop - zoom is driving me crazy but when I follow online suggestions to disable, I get as far as selecting the touchpad, but there is no option relating to zoom - please help! If I can't fix this, I will be returning this laptop as it's impossible to work with right now!

Try going to Settings then Touchpad then Additional Settings (on right), then Settings (in mouse properties window) then Gestures and then unclick Pinch Zoom. Hope this helps. I have an HP pro laptop and use Windows 10 and Chrome.
