A search for "synaptic" returns no results on my laptop, HP Stream 14CB159NR,
I did manage a solution by clicking on the Magnifier icon in the URL task bar. It toggles from color red, which freezes the click pad zoom function, to color gray which allows manual zoom % selection as well as pinch/zoom on the click pad, but that is still very hard to control and drives me nuts. I find it best to toggle to red icon and make manual adjustment when needed without having to use the crazy click pad.

For anyone with the newer HP Pavilion Elan has settings built in to disable pinch zoom. Click Elan Touchpad Settings, then click options, then multi finger, then zoom, and uncheck enable to turn off pinch zoom.

I just got this laptop yesterday and it DOES NOT HAVE a disable pinch zoom box anywhere in any of the settings, I am sunk and its driving my husband crazy, I got this laptop for him when his last HP cooked last week from fan issues. Starting to regret my loyalty to HP 😞

I spoke too soon, I tried the fix and it worked for less than 5 minutes. This thing must be seriously defective! I went through the process turning off the pinch zoom and turning off the two finger and turning on the chiral 1 finger, use it for less than a minute and zoom again, the only way to unzoom it was to go back and turn the pinch zoom on to shrink it back, go and turn it off again and less than a minute and right back to zoom- this is insane!

I tried, turned off the pinch zoom still does it, saw another solution and tried that, works for less than a minute and zooms again, this thing has to be defective! I even downloaded their latest software and still does it, piece of junk!
