Envy 15-as100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 15-as100 laptop.  I would like to connect a portable monitor to use as a second screen.  I purchased an HP Elite Display S14, which connects via a USB-c cable.  Plugging in the Elite Display S14 to my laptop's usb-c port, the monitor's message is "monitor status: usb-c video inactive."  Under Window's Display Settings - Multiple Displays, my laptop does not detect the other display.

Sinking feeling...wondering if my usb-c port does not support video - and if my laptop as currently configured cannot accomodate a second display/monitor.

Help?

Machine has the following ports

● Audio-in (mono microphone)/audio-out (stereo headphone) combination
● AC Smart Pin adapter plug
● HDMI v1.4 supporting up to 1920×1080 @ 60 Hz
● USB 3.0 ports (3)
● USB 3.0 port Type-C

Looks like  the last port is only an USB 3.0 port with type C shape as you can see it ONLY has USB symbol

and its description: (2) USB Type-C port Connects an optional USB device with a Type-C connector.

Thank you for this helpful information, Banhein.

So, if I want to use a second monitor/display alongside my laptop, then that monitor/display should be one that (1) connects by way of an HDMI cable and (2) "HDMI v1.4 supporting up to 1920×1080 @ 60 Hz".

None of the other ports could be used to connect a monitor/display.

Is my understanding correct?

Hi,

Can you provide the exact model number? there are two letters missing at the end of the model number. Because I believe the service manual might be giving incorrect info.

Here is how to find it:

Let me know,
