Pavilion 15-cs1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Pavilion laptop 15-cs1 with intel UHD graphics 620 and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050.

Yesterday I opened my laptop an intense flickering appeared on screen for the first time, which made my computer unusable, accompanied by a black screen every 1 sec.

The problem is only solved by disabling the Intel UHD graphics 620 in the device manager.

I have tried many different driver version, and even updated the BIOS (the problem does not appear on the BIOS, only after windows starts)

I have seen many people on this forum have the same problem with these drivers, but I still can't find a solution that works.

I see many people has a similar issue, so this might might help someone.

I contacted HP support and ran all the tests, and nothing worked, including a full system reset without keeping my files.

I didn't work and couldn't even use my computer because windows started with the intel UDH graphics 620 that caused the issue. The result was an unusable computer.

I managed to complete all the windows setup with the glitching and flickering display to deactivate the intel driver and use my computer again.

The technician said it was a hardware problem ans that they would replace my graphics card.

@Seba_B Here's what you need to do, to identify the issue and resolve it accordingly:

  • If not done already, check if it works fine on the BIOS screen to identify if it's either a hardware or a software issue:
    • If it works fine on the BIOS (Accessed while tapping F10 during a restart) it's a software issue & I suggest attaching an alternate monitor to your device and creating a new user account to check if that works better, for starters)
    • However, if it doesn't work within the BIOS either, I'm afraid it's a hardware malfunction.

While you respond to that, I have a few more steps that should help:

Perform a power reset (no data loss) using these steps: Click here, proceed to next step if this works

Attempt to run a test from the HP hardware diagnostic tool, using this link: Click here for details.

If the issue appears on the diagnostics, it could again, determine a hardware failure,

If they don't appear on bios & the hardware tests passed: please update the BIOS & Chip-set drivers from the HP website using this link: Click here

if the issue persists, reinstall windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue,
use this link for details on performing the recovery: Click here

HI! The screen works fine in the BIOS, it only glitches when the Intel UHD Graphics 620 drivers are enabled.

Tested with an external monitor also, only the windows native display drivers work, not the intel ones.

I performed a power reset twice, with and without data loss. It didn't work. Windows started with the intel drivers and it was nearly impossible to roperly set up and end up with a usable computer again.

I ran a System fast test and all tests were passed without problem.

I already updated the BIOS and installed the newest chpset drivers from the HP website. It didn't work. Also tried the newest Intel drivers and old drivers. It didn't work.

It was at this point that I reinstalled windows from the recovery partition. It also didn't work, so I ran out of options. The tech support told they would replace my card, but then never replied again.
