Hello all,

I have a HP G60 Laptop, sometimes when powered up nothing comes on the screen and the power button blinks and the CD drive makes a clicking sound. On the other side when one of the RAM is pulled out it powers up sill no screen but the clicking sound is stopped and the power button ain't flashing no more.

WHAT I'VE TRIED!

I've done all the hard reset EXAMPLE: pulling battery out, reseating ram and so on.. I've done all that still no look, I've also reflowed the GPU and still no look.

Can anyone help me ?

Adam

I would have to say you probably have a major hardware problem which could be something like this:

Thanks for your reply and i don't think it's anything to do with that becasue the laptop does actually turn on.

What do you mean by turn on? Do you have video? Do you have beep codes or blinking LED lights?

The laptop turns on as in the fans spins lights come on (power button etc.) But no display. And no beeps but the power button constantly flashes.

What is the rest of the model number on your G60? There are actually quite a few different G60. The full model number should be on the back of the notebook.  The reason I ask is for the LED blink codes. The blinking can lead to a cause of the problem.  Please post the full model and report if there is any pattern to the blinking LED or if it is just constant.

The model number is: G60-116EM

And the only blinking light is the power button constantly flashing.

Aslo could you please help with this one aswell ?

The led codes say it is an insufficient charge on the battery. Are you sure you can't get it to run with just the power adaptor plugged in?

I will also say that I don't consider turning on a term I would use if there is a black screen. Do you ever see anything on the screen? When you attach an external monitor, can you see anything there? If you get no video no matter what you do, I go back to saying your video chip needs to be reflowed, reballed or replaced.

Nope, When the laptop is plugged into the AC power lead it is still the same

How did you reflow your chip? If you use liquid flux on the chip, it tends to make the solder join with each other in a straight line and that would short out the chip. You may have to have someone reball it or replace the chip.
