I have a new HP spectre x360 13-ac052na for 1 week and it has just shown a login display fairly.
After power up the windows login is displayed and after entering the password correctly the windows welcome message is displayed but then after a few minutes the screen just goes black. You can use the cntrl alt del keys to look at the task manager or you can reset the pc but noting else works.
No no extra sweet has been installed apart from norton security and Epsom printer driver.
Any ideas as currently it's unusable.

I feel you man, this happend to you today due to a windows update no?
I had the same issues, but it was just the windows update to make my PC behave this way.
I've had to wait about 15mins on that black screen after a reboot from a windows update.
It's actually working on completing those recently installed updates during that time on a black screen. (after login)
This happend to me also with todays update. i would say let windows run and complete some tasks on that black screen until you can see your desktop again 😉
If the problem isn't fixed within 30 minutes, it might be another problem, hope this helps mate.
Edit: From what i can find so far it's a problem with our hardware and a recent windows update somehow interfering, As we speak they are probably already working on a fix, once your desktop is loaded up try not to shutdown or reboot the system anymore as the problem will presist (black screen after login) after the update. You can easily avoid this by putting your PC in hybernate temporarily until theres a fix available. Or ofc you can just wait about 15 minutes everytime after starting up and logging into the computer until there's a fix available.

Hi,
I'm experiencing the same problem.
I didn't know the cause but it seems it happend after today's windows update.
What I did was after login I opened the task manager, and run a task to open windows explorer.
All I did was start opening programs and files. After a few seconds Windows started and I was able to continue working.
Seems likes Windows just gets stuck after login in.

While writing this though my computer suddenly fixed itself. Not sure if it was because I opened something or because I waited for a while.
