Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP laptop screen goes dark immediatly when I connect my brand new HP monitor.  I think I followed the instructions.  Using new HDMI cable.

Did you use DUAL monitors before ? Sounds like the setup was the set Display 2 as main display.

 

You can set Display 2 as main display BUT only when close the lid that will allow you to use external display w/o main display. Please use the following Guide

Thank you for your reply. The problem is the laptop screen goes dark immediately when the laptop is connected to the monitor therefore I cannot follow your instructions because I can't see the screen.
