HP Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Is two finger back and forward in browser not supported on Windows 10? Everything else works just fine. What is weird is when I went into a microsoft store they had a newer 13" spectre x360 and it worked flawlessly but on my new 15" spectre x360 (2017) model it does not work. Am I missing something??

Hi @vegas3416,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I see from the post that you are having issues with the two finger back and forward not working in browser. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

What browser are you using?

Have you tried this on different browsers? such as Chrome, firefox

Have you tried to update the drivers?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

I would suggest please update the BIOS, Chipset drivers on your PC from our HP Support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to check if the gestures on Synaptics are enabled. Here's a document which should help you with the settings - HP Notebook PCs - Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

I'm using Windows Edge browser - just updated the synaptics driver again, updated the Bios to the latest on HP site which is from June 9th and touch is working for everything but 2 finger swipe to go back and forth on a browser page. Tried it on Edge and on Chrome both do NOT work.

Again two finger scroll works fine going up and down on a page. Touch screen works just fine to go back and forth on a web page to view the previous page or recent page but if I use the track pad I cannot go back and forth on pages. 3 finger works just fine to show desktop tray and four finger works just fine to view other desktops.

HI @vegas3416,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

As I understand you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, If this issue started recently, I would suggest you could perform a system restore to a previous date where it was all working fine. using this link.

If the issue still persists then you may perform a Windows Refresh (repair). This will also not delete any of your data and fix any issues with the Windows operating system. The link provided is for Win8. However, it will work for Win10 also.

If the laptop continues to not load into your user account then I suggest you to create a new user account and then try to login.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.

Let me know if those steps worked for you.

If they did, that’s awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!

Good Luck.

The main question that needs to be answered if you don't mind is - Does 2 finger swipe from left to right while in a browser work to make the page go to previous page or forward a page as you can do on a Mac? I am hearing mixed results. Can you show me this working as you make it sound it is supposed to work on the latest spectre x360. I did see it working on a 13" but not the 15" so far but I do not know if the 13" uses a different driver. This one has synaptics..the 13" may have the precision driver setup but honestly I do not know for sure. I have upgraded my OS to windows 10 Pro and cannot revert back to normal Windows 10. This is a new install. All drivers are good and HP assistant nor windows update is saying I need to do any driver updates. I did update the bios prior to upgrading to windows 10 pro as well.

Synaptics driver 19.3.11.45

BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. F.11, 5/26/2017

Again have you tested this on a 15" with this driver set using 2 finger swipe while on Edge browser?

Ok I just uninstalled the synaptics drive and let windows/HP install it again and now I can get the two finger swipe to work ONE time then it doesn't work. So to describe this better.

Lets say I open an Edge browser and google something and now I have the arrow not grayed out. Meaning I can click back to go back a page. So if I use two finger swipe it works to go back a page but now I have the ability to go forward a page if I want but when I do the two finger swipe to go forward I can't. It seems to only let me do the back or forward swipe with 2 fingers one time. The only way for it to work again is to do a manual click on the arrow button to go forward a page and then I can re-use the 2 finger swipe to go back but again I can't use 2 finger swipe to go forward again. It seems like its only allowing it once and then the code gets killed somehow and the only way to reset the 2 finger swipe is to manaully move a page forward or backwards one time.

What is up with these drivers??

Hi @vegas3416,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

After reviewing your post, I see that you have installed Windows 10 Pro,  That said, HP doesn't support changing the OS to Windows 10 Pro or any other OS for that matter,

as it would void the software warranty with HP. I would recommend you revert back to the original factory conditions and then check if that works.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.

What? You can't upgrade Windows OS? How is that not supported? You are telling me when windows updates says I can upgrade -- I can't because HP doesn't support an OS that is windows based but a better version? Please tell me this isn't true because if so I will just return this laptop and get a Mac instead. This would be the worst thing I've heard from a manufacturer. How can you not support Windows? Its on your laptop already. Windows 10 vs Windows 10 Pro is the fact that one has Remote desktop for the most part..thats it and maybe some other small pieces. It doesn't change anything else. Doesn't require any other 'special' drivers either. I think you guys might have just lost a customer.
