HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 15-dq1xxx notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought the Pavilion a few days ago. I have tried to connect it to my other Bluetooth devices.  Most of the cases I encountered problems:

1) my Pavilion does not detect the presence of some devices even all devices including the Pavilion on fully charged up (i.e. no battery issue).   I tried to connect my other devices using my smartphone in the same environment, and there was no detection, pairing or connection problems.

2) in some cases, my Pavilion can detect the devices and pair with them (I got the "xx is ready to go" message).  However, when I try to connect, I got unsuccessful connection.

3) in 1 case, my Pavilion can pair up and connect (it is a bluebooth speaker).  I tried to play music through my Pavilion, but the playback quality was not good (with noises).  No such problem when I play music through my smartphone to the same bluetooth speaker.

I have tried to run all troubleshooting steps advised by the HP Support Assistant and related instructed posted here a couple of years ago (i.e. unpairing, unstalling, restarting, etc).  The problem cannot be solved.

@Pat-51067, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Here are a few steps that should help resolve the issue:

1) Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Update & Security  > Troubleshoot . Under Find and fix other problems, select Bluetooth, select Run the troubleshooter, and follow the instructions.

2) Uninstall the Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager

If you don't see the Bluetooth icon, but Bluetooth does appear in Device Manager, try uninstalling the Bluetooth adapter, shutting down your PC, and triggering an automatic driver reinstall:

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type device manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.
  2. In Device Manager, select Bluetooth. Press and hold (or right-click) the Bluetooth adapter name (which may include the word “radio”), and select Uninstall device.
  3. Select the Start  button, then select Power  > Shut down.
  4. After your device shuts down, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Windows will try to reinstall the driver.
  5. If Windows doesn't reinstall the driver automatically, open Device Manager and select Action > Scan for hardware changes

If the issue persists, update the wireless card and BIOS drivers from the HP website: click here to find and install the same.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi. Thank you for the reply.

I have just  tried what you suggested.  After BIOS update, I can now send files from my Pavilion to my Samsung smartphones (different models), but cannot send files from smartphones to the Pavilion. And the Pavilion still cannot detect my headphone while my smartphones can connect to it without problem.

Already a big improvement in any case.

Thanks for replying!

How are you trying to transfer the files from smartphone to computer? Are you using any software?

Also, what kind of headset are you using?

Keep me posted.

I simply try to share a file via bluetooth. For example, on my Android phone, I choose a file (like a photo), click at the icon for sharing, select bluetooth, etc.  Same process for sharing a file at my HP notebook.  It does not work from smartphone to HP, but works the other way round.

The previous problem of bluetooth headset has been solved.

Thank you for the update.

Please update the phone software and check.

If the issue still persists, please reset your smartphone and check.
