HP OMEN 15-5012TX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Please help. I am trying to get blutooth to work on my Omen. When I run Settings | Update & Security | Troubleshoot | Bluetooth I get the following message:

Device does not have bluetooth

This device does not have bluetooth. Please try using an external adapter ...

I have installed the latest BIOS and bluetooth patches from

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76001-76500/sp76031.exe and http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79501-80000/sp79751.exe but to no avail.

If I go to Settings | Devices | Bluetooth and other devices there is NO Bluetooth On/Off switch. If I then go to Add Bluetooth or other device | Bluetooth I get a Couldn't connect error message.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

@Tibb

Did you upgrade/downgrade your machine ? Please try to download and install Intel Bluetooth Driver (Windows 10):

   http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76001-76500/sp76031.exe

Regards.

Hi BH,

Thank you for the quick reply.

Yes, I upgraded the OS from Windows 8.x (which came with the Omen) to 10 Home, then to 10 Pro. All Windows system updates are up to date.

I updated the BIOS this morning then I removed the installed Bluetooth driver BlueSoleid Generic Bluetooth Driver ,  applied the sp76031.exe update then rebooted the Omen. No difference. The BlueSoleid driver returned. Still not Bluetooth!

Many thanks

Hi,

Driver is from support page

     https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-omen-15-5000-notebook-pc/7281265/model/7538571

Now, please try the following order

1. Remove BT driver and REBOOT,

2. Download and install BOTH chipset drivers on the above link then reboot,

3. Apply sp76031

Regards.

Hi BH,

Thanks again. The generic Bluetooth driver automatically 'returns' after a reboot!

Your link shows 2 drivers for bluetooth, both have the same name, version, size and date! Am I looking at the right drivers?

Many thanks,

Hi BH,

Thanks again. What did you mean when you wrote  'install BOTH chipset drivers' ? Where do I find more than onw driver?

2. Download and install BOTH chipset drivers on the above link then reboot,

Many thanks,
