Every few days my Pavilion looses WiFi connection to my router (tablets are OK so router is working). Trying to restart I see conecting ....connecting stuck. If I look at Control Panel Drivers to disable/enable network driver the restart never appears to complete. Te only way I find is to Restart the machine. Help appreciated .

Hey there! @DonI2203, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand you have wireless issues with your PC.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?
Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.
Please try the steps recommended below.
Manually change network settings
Manually changing the network settings can resolve wireless connection issues. Create a restore point in Windows, and then manually change the network settings.
Using the search box on the taskbar, search for and open Create a restore point.
The System Properties window displays.
Click Create.
Type a name for the restore point, and then click Create.
Windows creates the restore point.
Using the search box on the taskbar, search for Command Prompt. In the results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
If a User Account Control screen displays asking if you want to allow the app to make changes to your computer, click Yes.
Type the following commands one at a time, pressing Enter after each one.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
To open the TCP Global Settings, type netsh int tcp show global in Command Prompt and then press Enter.
Make sure all settings are disabled except Receive-Side Scaling State.
Close Command Prompt, reboot the system and then try to connect to the Internet.
Refer this article to further troubleshoot wireless issues with your PC.
I'll keep an eye out for your response.
I hope you have a great day! 🙂

Mr Robot ,In last few minutesWlan stalled briefly - event log showed Warning entry...
Name resolution for the name au.download.windowsupdate.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
Followed by Error Entry..
WLAN AutoConfig detected limit connectivity, performing Reset/Recover.adapter.
Code: 8 0x0 0x0
.
Ref updating network device driver
Earlier I tried to update driver but was told ..."the best driver is already installed. Windows has determined driver software is upto date"
When I see a longer stall/stop I will exec. the netsh commands & advise you
Yr help is appreciated DonI2203 (BTW ex-HP employee)

@DonI2203, It's been great to hear from you again.
I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Please try the steps recommended below.
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right-click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'. Into the prompt, type the following commands, hitting enter after each command. Include spaces in the commands where shown.
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
When complete, type exit and hit enter, then restart the notebook and check connectivity.
Also, try updating the wireless drivers to 19.60 and check if it helps.
I'll watch your reply!
Take Care! 🙂

Problem remains - overnight wifi was simply switched off - easily recognised & remedied in the Settings menu but its took several attempst to actual get to a web site.
Looking in event log I see 2 associated entries...
-------------
Name resolution for the name aclm.external.hp.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
--------followed by --------------
The network interface "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265" has begun resetting. There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets.
Reason: The network driver requested that it be reset.
This network interface has reset 5 time(s) since it was last initialized.
------------------------------------
Obviously some event is disabling the WiFi adapter ....???

Hi @DonI2203,
Thank you for replying,
I appreciate your time and efforts,
As I understand you were interacting with @A4Apollo is out of office, I'm replying to you. I have read your post comprehensively. I see that you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue. Don't worry as I have a few other steps which should help you resolve this issue.
I would like to check if you are able to connect to the internet using Ethernet cable. If so, I would suggest the next step would be to update the Bios, chipset drivers and Wi-Fi drivers from our HP support website, using this link.
Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to run the test on the Wireless card from F2 (Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.
Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,
It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.
Regards,
Jeet_Singh

Is this related.... after a period of inactivity (overnight) when I attempt to access my home page (using Ffox/Google) I get error cannot find page (at this time wifi is flagged as secure, connected).
Looking in error for this entry at this time log I see...

Last sentence - I see no obvious way to adjust permission using Component Services administrative tool.
This sems to be a transient situation as next attempt to get to hope page is successful.
Your assistance is appreciated DonI2203

Hi @DonI2203, I am the @Chimney_83. It looks like you were interacting with @Jeet_singh, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
Thanks for the reply and providing more information. May I know the exact product number of your computer. Click here for assistance. Please do not share the serial number of your computer.
As you mention that the issue occurs when you wake the computer from sleep or when left idle for a long time.
Recommend you check the power management of the wireless adapter.
Uncheck the option to turn off the device to save power and check the option to allow this device to wake the computer.
Let me know if this helped.

Thanks for yr reply. I have aleady de-ticked the power settings for this network adapter (having seen this suggestion whilst googling my problem). Had no impact on the wifi problem.
My PC is model an HP Pavilion 17-ab000 64-bit running Windows 10 .
Are the entries I see in the Event Log significant ?
An entry coincident with recent brief wifi loss was...
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160}
and APPID
{9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276}
to the user PC04\Joan04 SID (S-1-5-21-4022217419-667381054-4003759897-1002) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
I am unable to find the Component Services administrative tool as described above to attempt a fix.
