Hi katherinehill12,
There are a couple more things that you can try. Here is a document on Using and Configuring the TouchPad check out the Disabling the TouchPad and Turning all gestures off and on. The last option is trying the Microsoft Fixit tool for hardware problems it is a long shot however. It could be that here is a hardware issue with the TouchPad.

Im on windows 8 64-bit . And under network adapters i have Evolve Virtual Ethernet Adapter, Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter, Ralink RT5390R 802. 11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter,
Realtek PCIe FE Family controller, and TAP-win32 Adapter V9. Please help.

Hi zedmonkey,
Here is a link on how to turn on your wireless. If that doesn't work you can try using the HP Diagnostic Tools to check the wireless under Component Tests you should see an option for Wireless Module. Let me know if you get any errors.
