Pavilion 15 N208eia
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop a hp pavilion 15 Notebook n208eia can't find my mobile hotspot. Other PCs can find my hotspot but my PC can't.

I've restarted it, forgotten the network connection in known connections and I've checked my network adapters. I've also reset my PC and reset my hotspot on my phone. I've tried almost everything I feel might solve it.

Please help with this issue as it is costing me time and money.

@Bruno00

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

If it is a cable connection, you should click on the icon that looks like a little black computer screen down the right and see that the WiFi icon is blue (i.e. on) and that the Airplane mode is grey (off). Click on them to change if needed.

If you are connecting via WiFi you should see an icon composed of arcs instead of the computer screen icon but then again if your WiFi would not be working you would probably not be here at all so the above is not relevant.

Can you please also check and tell your WiFi adapter model just in case.

You can see that as follows:

1. Right-click on the Windows icon down left

2. Select Device Manager

3. Expand the Network adapters section

4. Take note of what it says on the Wireless/Wifi line.

if the issue persists try resetting the Windows firewall to the default settings:

  • 1. Click on the Windows icon down left
  • 2. Type Control panel and click on it when found
  • 3. Click on Windows Defender Firewall
  • 4.  Click on Restore defaults

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

@Bruno00

Thank you for posting back.

The last thing I can suggest trying is a restore back to the factory. Performing an HP system recovery (Windows ) While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance.

They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I have restored my PC to factory settings and the problem still persists.

@Bruno00 If that didn't work, I'm afraid this is a hardware malfunction and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,

here's how private messages work: Click here for details

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
