Notebook 17-X06
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Had my hearing devices paired with the notebook via Bluetooth but couldn't figure out how to disable the internal speakers and maintain the Bluetooth connection.  Contacted HP support via chat and in the process did not get my "problem" resolved but did loss the ability to pair my hearing devices via Bluetooth.

@ClemensH

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand you are unable to pair your hearing devices via Bluetooth anymore,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you perform a system restore to an earlier date it worked without these issues?

Have you attempted to reinstall or update the Bluetooth adapters?

While you respond to that, here's what I recommend you do:

Tips for finding a Bluetooth device

If Windows cannot detect the Bluetooth device, check the following items:

Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on and discoverable
Check device settings and location

Check the following items to troubleshoot Bluetooth issues.

  • Make sure the device is turned on, is not low on battery power, and is not in sleep mode.

  • Make sure the device is within wireless range of your computer, usually within six to nine feet. If you are not sure if the device is in range, move it closer to your computer, or put the device and computer in the same room.

  • Make sure there are no other devices interfering with the wireless device, such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, or other wireless devices.

  • If your computer uses an external Bluetooth adapter, make sure the adapter is attached and installed, and is working correctly.

  • If Bluetooth is integrated in your computer, especially a notebook computer, make sure the Bluetooth radio transmitter is turned on. Many notebook computers have a button to turn the transmitter on and off. If you are not sure how to turn on the transmitter, check the information that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer website.

(by the end of this document, all the issues should be resolved)

Good Luck.

When working with chat support discovered that I had not created any restore points.  That's been fixed, but unforturnately after the problem occurred.

I used HP Support Assistant and if found the Bluetooth driver was out of date.  Installed the up date and things work a bit better, but when trying to pair with my hearing device, it now discovers the hearing device(but not real realiably) and when I select it to connect I get a message "Try connecting your device again."

A bit of info I forgot to include, the HP notebook pairs reliably with my iPhone, even without my doing anything after installing the updated driver.

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

Well, the last response of yours has led me to conclude that the issue isn't the notebook but the hearing device,

Considering the Bluetooth works flawlessly in your iPhone.

That said, I recommend you Contact the manufacturer of the hearing piece and get it either repaired or replaced.

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as  well,

Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

The hearing device used to pair with the HP notebook, that is how I knew that when using the hearing device paired with the notebook the internal speakers were also putting out the audio.  The hearing device also pairs with my iphone and also with my wireless house phone.  I stopped pairing with the notebook when a HP rep had control of my computer when trying to disable the internal speaker when paired with my hearing device.

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

I understand it used to work before, however, since it isn't anymore, though the notebook pairs with other devices,

if you haven't tested other devices with the notebook, please do, so that you may identify the issue.

Let me know if those steps worked for you,

If they did, that's awesome!

I do not have any other devices to try pairing with the HP notebook.

Summary of what pairs up and what doesn't

HP notebook pairs up with iPhone, does not pair up with hearing device, will sometimes detect the hearing device but will not connect.

Hearing device pairs up with iPhone and with a wireless phone system on our land line

@ClemensH

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

I understand your concern and to help you out further,

I suggest you to check with the hearing device manufacturer, if they have a driver or a software to connect your device to windows, as connecting the device to a MacOS is not the same as connecting to a windows OS.

While you do that, please confirm if the device supports the version of Windows you have.

Also, I must let you know that this is not an issue with the PC as the Bluetooth on your PC works fine with the iPhone,

I'm Eager to help you, please revert with the details to my queries for further assistance.

Let me know how that pans out

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as  well,

Why is it that you refuse to address the fact that it used to work and now it no longer does after a HP rep had control of my notebook during a chat?

Oh, I forgot, you also work on behalf of HP.

Anyone else out in the forum community able to help?
