shift key, key z and key x are not working

Another problem has occurred today. The shift key on the left side below caps lock and key z and key x are not working today. :(. Other keys are working ok. Till yesterday they were fine.

Has anything changed on the laptop sense yesterday?  has any kind of liquid been spilled in the laptop?

No, nothing has been spilled. It was working fine till yesterday but today evening when I tried to use shift key for caps, it did not work and then key z and key x were also not working. The right side shift key and all other keys are working fine. Only these 3 have some issue. I checked the onscreen keyboard and it works fine.

How long have you owned this computer for?  What is the full model number of this computer?

I have this laptop for nearly 6 yrs.

My guess is that over the years depending on how much use it has gotten the keyboard may simply need to be replaced.  The part number for your keyboard is  640436-001.

Ok, thanks. The part no you mentioned implies keyboard model or type? Just adding that while searching for docs in a list of them, that time pressing shift key and alphabet key other than key z and key x, selects the document. For eg shift key +t leads to the doc title starting with t and so on. Can you help with approx cost of original keyboard and how to identify it?

Just sharing that most used keys are a, s , d, c, v, n, m, e whose imprints have faded, LOL.

The part number I provided can be put into the ebay or Amazon search box and they should bring the keyboard up for purchase. Just keep in mind that the part number is for the US layout. If you need a different layout please let me know so that I may fix my mistake.

Well I am in India so if the keyboard layouts are different for Indian HP models then please give me the Indian version.
