Just remove the laptop's bezel...here are the instructions if you don't know how. It's really easy to do. http://www.insidemylaptop.com/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-board-hp-pavilion-dv7-notebook/

Don't go any further than removing the bezel (frame around screen). That's all you need to do. You will see a cable connected to the camera. It is loose. Just push it up further into the connector and voila! Your camera will work. I just did this after two days of unistalling/reinstalling/rebooting/etc....with nothing working. This did the trick! Unfortunately, I unistalled the cyberlink youcam software and can't figure out how to reinstall it for free. If anyone has any ideas, let me know!

I'm not a pro on working with laptops, but it should be the same.

I had the same problem.  The HP Support online helped me.  I was looking for my HP Truevision Webcam and just had to type in YouCam and it popped up right away.  So far so good.

I bought a brand new Pavilion dv6 from Staples about a month ago.  Had this exact same problem--the webcam was DOA (drivers were properly installed, but all programs said no power to cam).  Staples exchanged dv6, no problem (except for the 20 mile drive).  The webcam works on my new, new Pavilion dv6, but in YouCam the quality is trash.  Got slightly better video quality when using Debut Video Capture (www.nchsoftware.com/capture - the basic version is free), but still blurry and sluggish at any resolution.  This is obviously a webcam of the poorest quality and a QC issue HP should address immediately.
