@Minnick Yep to clarfiy modded drivers were not needed.  Went to Amd website and downloaded 13.6 beta version catalyst control center, installed and presto had up to date drivers.  I don't have a clue why that version works, Minnick's theory makes sense to me.

And yeah throttlestop sounds just like your program you're talking about.  It's pretty awesome and customizable, has a constant temperature guage on each core and thresholds set if it gets too hot.  It's made a huge boost in perfomance.

I've got a few pm's from people a little unclear on how I got updated drivers to work. It's super simple. I have an hp envy14 with switchable graphics the hd 5650 mobility is the dedicated card. All I did was go to amd site and download and install 13.6 beta catalyst control center and my envy accepted the install and is now running on those drivers, running like a dream. here's a link to the exact page with the drivers, its not the verification tool file at top, scroll down where it says 13.6 beta

Hi,

I got a HP Pavillon DV6-3150sg with a switchable Graphics Card (HD 4250 and hd5650m).

I can only install the original HP Driver from 2010 on my System!!!!!

When i´m triying to install an amd Catalyst (From 11 to 13, tried them all) my Graphics Card won´t be recognized.

My Display is only flickering and the Driver is removed then.

Pls help me Guys. I´m absolutely desperate 😞

Thanks a lot Jonathan11 and Minnick, for your efforts!
Turns out that the Beta 13.6 drivers worked like a charm. On first try even.

The notebook is performing a lot better now!
It's sad that HP doesn't care at all about supporting it's costumers.

Try it, Voldermort:

It should work like a charm.

Again, thanks a lot for this, guys!
This new driver just breathed a lot of life on the old Envy.

No Thx needed guys just glad you have a new video card! 🙂

It seems that the driver install works fine with the 5650/intel chip combo but doesn't seem to be working for people with the 5650/amd combo. Can anyone with the amd combo get it to work?

Don't know how to help any further. I would just try messing with the installs a few times and see if it works.

Guys i need help.

Ive been fighting HP and there crap with this for a very long time. Ive had to restore to factory settings 3 times trying to update it and it never works. Im on an HP ENVY 14 with Switchable Graphics and HD 5650. Ive been trying all the links in the thread and of course, my luck, NOTHING WORKS. So please, could someone get me the latest driver for HD 5650?! As long as it increases my FPS thats fine, i just want a new driver!

Please send me a download link and instructions to my Email {Private Information Removed}! IF anyone could help me it would really cool me down. Ive been trying to do this for almost 2 years now, and i love how HP does nothing about this. Please, can someone give me a working link with working instructions and a WORKING DRIVER.

like several of us have discovered thx to Minick,  you can now just download the 13.6 beta catalyst control center and its installs the newest drivers.  I have an hp envy 14 with 5650 switchable just like you, look at the above posts from others and myself it is really quite simple.  This driver works for some reason where others before didn't.  offical driver from amd

Go to this link,    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-32.aspx#1

SCROLL DOWN the page to click on the 13.6 beta catalyst control center,  not the amd detection tool at the top.  download file, should be 170 MB or so,  install and follow prompts as normal.   It has worked for several us with identicaly laptops /graphics cards,   its really that' simple.  Do what I said, come back if it doesn't work.

I installed the recemended drivers and now my Catalyst claims I have no AMD video cards installed.   And without catalyst I have no way of knowing which video card is active.
