The following screen capture may look different than yours, but depending on YouCam version, it should look similar. This is from ENVY 14 running Windows 7.
Assuming that you have already started YouCam (from Windows 7, enter YouCam in the search box and select CyberLink YouCam.) then once it starts up, look for the Tools menu icon as shown here (1) in this picture. Click that icon and the Settings menu slides out to the right. Ensure that the HP webcam or HP TrueVision is selected (2). The choices available from the dropdown will depend on your model.
As soon as you select the correct capture device, your Webcam should instantly show up.
Also see this link to a video showing how to set up the Webcam - It's Cyberlink 3.0 which is not the most recent version but the instructions and screens look very similar.

His webcam is not detected - probably even not visible in device manager.
I bet that he does not have possibility to choose HP TrueVision from drop down menu (2)
As I mentioned in one of my posts it looks like a common problem with dv6 notebooks that webcam/mic connector is loose and devices are not present in the system.

Hello Omar_Ibrahim,
I understand your stating the webcam is not functioning, is that correct? I will do all I can to help you resolve this issue.
Can you please provide the full make and model of the computer you have. You did mention it was a DV6, but HP has manufactured a ton of different DV6 series laptops, and I want to confirm we are working with right one. If you are unsure how to locate the information, have a look at this link for further assistances.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
Thanks

This is incredibly frustrating as I've been dealing with this for almost a year now- trying and failing many times to fix this problem. While I love my computer, the webcam has not worked since day one. Many people seem to be having this problem and yet there is no answer, which I find insulting and annoying. I payed money for this computer, a lot of money, actually, and I expect it to do what it was designed to do. This is ridiculous.
