Just thought I'd add to everything and see if someone can help me out. I've tried everything but where on earth are you guys getting these .bin and .sig files!? I've tried running the bios update program thing (I think that's what you guys are talking about). It extracts, I get some sort of InsydeFlash file that won't run telling me something like 'if you are running windows XP, please run as administrator', i get the same error in windows 7. I AM the admin, the only problem i can see is that I'm trying to recover everything on my mac, i don't have a spare PC, so I'm using the program parallels desktop, it emulates windows and I've tried everything on both widows 7 and XP. I find it ridiculous that HP can't just provide a simple solution, and people are being forced to extract binaries, change file names etc just to do something you're supposedly able to do anyway, can anyone help me out??

Your product may not support USB BIOS Recovery. Since it did not automatically recover from the Hard Drive, there is a good chance it does not support USB Recovery.
Do you still have the original HP facory image on the Hard Drive or did you replace it?

So that's not an option...
I've also tried FN + ESC.
I did notice that with the keyboard convination and without it, the pc read the usb pen. And there is a lot of activity.... But something is misaing
