Have you fully installed the new version of HP Power Assistant?

 

I doubt it because the new file appears to be same as the old file.

Also it is not clear to me whether anything else has to be done in order to:

       "fully installed the new version of HP Power Assistant"

What happens when you double click on the file called HPPA_Setup.exe? As this is a setup file it should install the new version of the HP Power Assistant. The C:\swsetup\sp54635 would appear to be where the compressed download file extracted to. It still needs to be installed.

 

Did you uninstall the version of HP Power Assistant you had installed already?

 

If so double click on HPPA_Setup.exe and follow the onscreen instructions. IF now uninstall it first than double click on HPPA_Setup.exe.

Yes, I was able to uninstall the existing Power Asssistant.

Yes, I was able install the version I got.

The version now running is: 2.0.6.0  (Don't know what the previous version was ...)

 

Will keep an eye on the situation.

It looks like that the problem has gone away !!

The 2nd prolem (frozen cursor when waking up from a suspended state) appears to have been fixed also !!

I applied this fix to my hp4530s and it seemed to have resolved the issue for about two weeks. Then the problem returned. I have repeated the process (uninstalled power assist, then installed the update provided at the link).

 

I have also looked into accessibility and keyboard settings to be sure that there the settings are correct.

 

So, if the problem reoccurred, is there perhaps another issue? Could a Windows update that occurs subsequent to applying the updated power assist replace a driver and reintroduce the problem? Also, I am wondering if the power assist is at all necessary to have installed (if that is the source of the issue). Any insight would be helpful. The problem is a huge frustration that has caused loss of work from time to time. I'm about ready to trash the HP and get something else. Please advise.

Hold the following keys down for a few seconds:

 

CTRL + SHIFT + CAPS-LOCK

Easy fix for Caps Lock working in reverse.

 

Try this trick. Open a notepad and type "tHANKS" and it will autocorrect it back to "Thanks" and your keyboard should be in sync with your monitor. I've noticed that my screen says the caps lock is off but my keyboard says it is on and after I try this trick it works again.

I'm not sure but, typing any word with lower case & caps might work.
