Hi,

First, try a Hard Reset as follows.

BIG thanks DP-K !

Had a similar problem to those mentioned on here regarding sound

It was probably self inflicted as i have a new g6-1325sa that i wanted to Dual Boot with XP and that was

quite a painful process i can tell you, locating the sata drivers to slipstream was a nightmare

Anyway i finally did it yesterday and was feeling very pleased until i realised there was now no sound

when i went into Win 7, XP i expected that to be the case and set about finding drivers for it

I thought i had found them and installed but no joy and that was when i realised 7 had gone belly up too

when i booted into it

The really weird thing is though, that if i plugged in external speakers BOTH had perfect sound.

Obviously this is no good for a laptop on the road, ok at home as i prefer to use external ones

Tried a few methods detailed on HP site & this thread with no luck until i saw your rather unlikely sounding

solution and BINGO it worked a treat....sound was restored to win 7 from laptop speakers

next i booted into XP and still no sound but the next time i booted intp  win 7 it had gone from there too

although again it was there with external speakers, so booting into XP had affected the hard reinstall.

another weird thing here is that i do get system sounds through the speakers with XP

but only if the external speakers are connected, tried to play a CD then and nothing

Again i tried your method and booted into win 7 several times sound was fine but as soon as i

went into XP the problem resurfaced - sound through external speakers but not laptop ones.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received

Hi,

It might be worth resetting the bios defaults as follows.

Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

Has this had any effect on the issue?

Regards,

Hello mayor01,

I see that you are having problems with the sound on your HP computer. I would like to help with this issue but I need some information.

Can you provide the full model and product number of the computer? Here is a link that shows how to find that information.

How long have you been having the problem?

I have the same problem this is a new Machine on start up, I have no sound through the speakers, have it through the headphones both plug in and USB. I have tried a default reset (F10 on boot up etc.) I have tried the remove the battery and press the power button for 30 sec. I have tried making sure I have the latest drivers. I have tried the process of removing the driver totally, then reboot, reload and check the Administrative Tools/Services, but still have no sound through speakers.

My computer is a HP Pavilion G6-2148TX

Product No: C5H50PA#ABG

Running Windows 7 64 Home Premium Ver 6.1.7601 SP1 Build 7601

BIOS Config F.22-11/22/2012 (07761000002051100000620100)

Please advise if there is anything to do other than claim Warranty

Hi,

I also have no sound on my Laptop anymore.

I have a HP Pavilion g6. I bought it in the US and used it there for the last four months. It always worked fine.

Now I am back in Germany and am using it for the first time here and I don't have sound anymore.

When I try to run a test sound I get an error message. Should I download a new driver or something?

The model number is C2N50UA#ABA and it runs windows 8.

I would be happy for an advice.

Thanks,

Fabian
