Speaking of faulty wifi, I think I might be part of that too! My wifi has started randomly dropping! But it's not a complete drop though. If I run a speed test, I get a fairly good average speed, but when you look at the test in more detail you can see that there's a drop every other second, so although it doesn't drop out completely it's killing my online games to the point where they are unplayable.
I convinced Sky that this was an issue with the router, which in fairness needed upgraded anyways as it was restarting itself at least once a day, but they've sent me a brand new up to date router and I'm still suffering the same problem! I've just done a check on my girlfriends Acer and her speed test is solid! So this is another HP fault to add to the list!
I can see me facing defeat here and going back to 8.1.

I get signal drop too when i have original driver wifi from MS. Then reinstall it with my old driver for Win 8.1 and it back to normal.

Just an FYI on the Wi-Fi issue....manually update the driver in DEVICE MANAGER.  I checked on that when I upchucked err... UPGRADED to Win10 and installed an updated driver for the Wi-Fi connection.  Worked well after that.

What did you do? Roll back to previous driver? Are you still on Windows 10 then?

Just install it like usual, no need to roll back or unistall the driver. And Yes i'm still with my beloved windows 10

Lee_k when this is all through, your laptops motherboard is going to be fried. Which is going to cost you almost half the laptop price.hp isnt probably going to take any actions, its not there issue and many people using MSI and ASUS LAPTOPS (INCLUDING MOTHERBOARDS) are having these issues. Its an MS issue, besides the icon use to download in the background and people probably use to shutdown when it was downloading the update.Even though there is a very little chance of getting the files corrupt it can still happen. The media creation tool on the other hand (REN4MED TAKE NOTICE) verifies the file and make sure there not corrupt and than after completely verying them moves to upgrading. Thus creating a difference BETWEEN THERE CODES causing the installer to install properly.

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, THE PEOPLE WHO FAILED THE WINDOWS 8.1 REVERSION, FAILED DUE TO DELETING THE WINDOWS.OLD FOLDER IN THERE C DRIVE IF YOU HAVE IT THERE YOU SHOULD BE 100% FINE .

Didn't work for me unfortunately... but this issue dates back to when I first purchased my computer with Windows 8.1.

My name is re4med 🙂

And what you are writing sounds like a lot of gobbly-**bleep** to be perfectly honest.  For instance...

"Its an MS issue, besides the icon use to download in the background and people probably use to shutdown when it was downloading the update."  WHAT are you saying? That people potentially shut down WHILE it was downloading? Really?  If that is what you are saying I can categorically tell you that this is not my issue.  I left my laptop on ALL NIGHT the evening of the upgrade (7/28 into 7/29) in case it did download.  It didn't.  I got it by running Windows Update (@7:30 AM ET) at which time it downloaded entirely. It then went through the EXACT SAME process as the ISO.  Sorry bud, but the code is the same.  For the record, I have updated TWO laptops at work for professors (one through the ISO and one through Windows Update) and my wife's laptop (through Windows Update) and they ALL WORK and ALL updated EXACTLY the same.  The GUI was different at first with the ISO (as I would expect) but the PROCESS WAS IDENTICAL.

"The media creation tool on the other hand (REN4MED [sic] TAKE NOTICE) verifies the file and make sure there not corrupt and than after completely verying them moves to upgrading" -- RIGHT, just like the Windows Update downloded code. No difference here either. Apparently you think that the ISO verifies the download and the code and then installs and the Windows Update version doesn't.  They both do the same thing. 🙂  If anything, the Windows Update version is MORE LIKELY to give you the EXACT upgrade components based on your system than the ISO will but even that seems completely bonkers.

Another thing about file verification:  So you think that the Windows Update file verification was somehow faulty? If so, how do you explain that THOUSANDS and TENS of THOUSANDS of HP laptops that all have the SAME corrupted DRIVER/FILE? The odds of that happening...well, are worse than getting hit by lightning.   Furthermore, WHY is it that THOUSANDS, MILLIONS of people upgraded through Windows Update and have no issue? Again, the odds are...

"your laptops (sic) motherboard is going to be fried" -- MAYBE.  Maybe not.  No need to scare the crap out of people.

FOR THE LOVE OF ____, THERE MIGHT BE CHILDREN WATCHING!

...now you are free to disagree.  I don't care.  We can argue about this ad infinitum, ad naseum if you like.  I do not happen to agree and I do this for a living. Now, you MIGHT be right but my experience tells me something different and, apparently, the overwhelming opinion of the HP techs happen to agree with me (after speaking with a senior manager of their support team).

Sorry it didn't work.  Ya, if you had this issue with 8.1 likely it would carry over.  Have you tried to REMOVE the wifi from device manager and reboot (it will reinstall the proper driver at that time)?

I have indeed...  No luck there either.  It sounds like there was an issue with certain Envy models having their wireless cards mounted in a way that interfered with the signal, and I'm almost certain that's what happened with mine.

That $9 Edimax Wifi dongle solved my issue, but I do want to get the internal card fixed before my warranty runs out!

Right.  Good thinking.  An external Wi-Fi receiver is always a way out if the internal fails. Been there...

re4med and Lee_K_00,  thank-you both for that info. I will revert back to Windows 8.1 to properly shutdown the laptop.

Much obliged.

God Bless,

Doulat.
