Welp...  No luck for me on reverting the Realtek High Definition Audio driver.  Still unable to consistently sleep or shut down.

Has anyone with an Envy 15 x360 attempted to revert to Windows 8.1 and then re-upgrade to Windows 10 via the Media Creation Tool?  If so, has it resolved the issue?

I'm hesitant to go that route until I'm relatively convinced it will resolve the issue once and for all.

run this command "powercfg -requests" and post the result .

Not always a fix to have nothing there mines:

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10240]

C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg -requests

EXECUTION:

PERFBOOST:

But it still wont shut down or sleep after a while.

I did try and uninstalling the IDT Audio Drivers and use the MS default ones same issue.

Yesterday I got "None" under all categories while experiencing this issue, so evidently not everything reveals itself through this process.

Today I got...

----------

DISPLAY:

None.

SYSTEM:
None.

AWAYMODE:
None.

EXECUTION:
[PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume4\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe
Uploading data

PERFBOOST:
None.

----------

I did have Google Chrome running when I attempted to sleep and failed, but that was never an issue in Windows 8.1 and I can't imagine simply having a browser window open (and on this forum, haha) ought to cause my system to freeze on a sleep attempt.

I also just noticed my Synaptics driver automatically updated itself back to version 19.  Ugh!

with the above result ,i assume the system should be able to sleep /shutdown properly.you should run this command whenever you have to sleep/ shutdown your PC and if it gives some error kindly post it here on the forms and i may be able to help you find the cause of the issue.

It was Realtek for me doesn't imply it could be Realtek for you. For me on HP Envy, it was Realtek as the other drivers i insrtalled were of Windows 8.1 and not Windows 10. But on my ex-roomie's laptop, which is a pavillion 15 with all drivers of Windows 10, I got culprits as Realtek along with Intel Rapid storage and Intel chipset driver driver. 2 days ago, I had tried this reverting back to 8.1 and upgrading to 10 via media creation tool software, but on my brother's Lenovo Y50 laptop with all drivers including BIOS updated, but it failed. It looks to be working on SOME particular HP Pavillion models, but not all, like this lenovo.

If you are on a clean installed Windows 10 without any drivers installed. I recommend you to do the following:
Install the drivers of Windows 8.1 on Windows 10, and don't use Windows 10 drivers except for 1-->Intel HD graphics 2-->Nvidia drivers 3-->HP wireless button driver. Install the remaining drivers using Windows 8.1 drivers.

NOTE: for some drivers it looks impossible to remove completely the drivers if installed once. They are Realtek/IDT, Wifi drivers, Intel HD drivers. Such drivers even if uninstalled both from control panel and Device manager, you will see that upon a reboot they will be back again.
For e.g. if you have installed Intel HD even once, even upon uninstalling it, you will see that reappear again. Intel HD drivers are not completely uninstalled until your DAC Type under display adapter properties are shown "N/A" just like in this given example. Other parameter should be Microsoft Basic. Something similar is the case with Realtek/IDT. Their registries are not deleted.

I recommend you to install Windows 8.1 drivers for all as far as possible.on an immediate freshly formatted laptop with driver updates blocked. Except for Synaptics drivers, outdated driver are working better than the Windows 10 driversUsing this method I suceeded in proper shutdown/restart in 3 devices i.e. my own HP Envy 15, my ex roomie's HP Pavillion and my brother's Lenovo Y50. I succeeded in correcting my brother's lenovo at first, after which I decided to try the same on these 2 HP models, which too are running well for complete one day.

P.S: I have not installed Intel Chipset and Intel Rapid Syorage driver at all and yet there are no Yellow mark/Unknown device marked in my device manager, plus I have blocked the drivers update from windows update.

My laptop is on, the whole day with some restarts in b/w (with longer intervals), and I have not face problems since then.

@Sibu16: I'm not on a clean install of Windows 10. If I'm going to do a clean install at this point, I'd just assume go the route of reverting to Windows 8.1 and re-upgrading via the Media Creation Tool since some here have found success with that.

But I'm trying to avoid doing that and making further significant changes to my computer until I'm convinced it has been permanently successful for HP Envy 15 users.

Thanks. I'll try that, but considering I've been having this issue since the moment I upgraded to Windows 10 and am not typically running Chrome when it happens, I'm very skeptical that Chrome has an actual role in this particular issue.

yeah me too.none of these issues were present on windows 8.1 its specific to windows 10.my problem is temporarily fixed for now i guess.if the problem on my laptop resurface's i will surely wait for official fix as we have already waited more than 2 weeks.so it won't bother me waiting for another 2 or 3 weeks.but i wont be reverting back and upgrading again as it is a really hectic and painful task.

I completely second you. In case of windows 7 or 8.1 if we shut down with those apps running, it asks fir our permission to force them to close and then Windows shuts down completely> For you it was Chrome, today in some previous comment, one guy commented Spotify, for my ex roomie it wrote a very weird thing "srvr.dll" about which I have absolutely no idea. Its actually that the WIndows 10 RTM is a completely unstable platform and MS  has indirectly recruited ourselves as BETA developers and that too for FREE. You can see, that is why MS is not making any patch and not making an official statement regarding the issues on Windows 10. Instead it is making headlines like "Windows 10 installed on 50 million devices" and all such crap rather than how SONY which has warned its users from installing WIndows 10.
Again today, I recieved a cumulative update in its forced Windows update like other users. As I am a developer, this update is proving me extremely unfriendly, crashing my whole taskbar, if i were to perform any registry cleaning operation. Upon deleting this update, everything worked well, but only after creating a new user.

Well, if you ever happen to witness start menu not working, your Windows store app suddenly gone transparent(but not actually disappeared), then don't do a clean format or restore. In 95% of such cases, creating a new user solves the issue. These are such bugs, which I extremely hate about Windows 10. I guess, if I am facing any other buggy feature or crash withing next one month, I am switching bback to Windows 8.1 permanently. I dont want to risk my brand new laptop's health for a Spying Windows 10(which is releasing its updates for spying puposes) as it never clears what issue it is clearing in that update.

Well I have not tried that reversion and upgrading on an HP Envy laptop(well mine is an HP Envy), but this method has failed in my brother's laptop. But that was a LENOVO laptop. As far as the success stories are concverned, I see them only for HP pavillion laptops and that too some only, under this post in some previous comments.

Thanks HP Community!!

I tell my history, i bought my Pavilion 14 (Intel i7 and AMD 8670m) with Windows 8 preinstalled in the beggining of this year.

Later, i tried to upgrade to Windows 8.1, but it was a really headache!! A lots of BSOD, sleep dont working, the drivers of my AMD card not working, and well, i really frustrated with this because i thinked that i will isolated in Windows 8...

And well, i follow the last metod of Sibu and another members to try upgrade and not a clean install, and well, upgrade from windows 8 to windows 8.1...ugh error everywhere.. update some drivers with HP tool and with the upgrade tool of microsoft upgrade to Windows 10.... and voila, it´s fully functional now!!! I´m really happy!
