I searched for a BIOS update for my rather new HP ENVY 15-k075ng Notebook and none is shown.
So how can a BIOS update then be a solution for me ?
You need to get the BIOS upgrade under the DRIVERS for Win8.1 even if you are currently running Win10. Go to the drivers section of the HP Support site >> enter your model number or let it detect it >> Select operating system (Microsoft > 8.1) >> Go to BIOS >> get the correct one and flash the BIOS from there.
Be sure to get the correct BIOS. Run msinfo32 from the run box (Win Key + X).

They searched for their respective model's driver's page, instead of Windows 10, select Windows 8.1,then update, and then download the latest BIOS. Well, I too tried this, but it didn't fix anything for me. I tried all the steps mentioned by "re4med", but in vain I was already on the latest bios since its date of release. Did it again, still not fixed. The only option left for me is to go back to win 8.1, re-flash the same BIOS firmwire again and then re-install windows 10(but I don't know, how it fixed for many, looks like they haven't run their laptops for hours or did some installations and all and then shut down/reboot)

Thank you very much for sharing your experience.
Well, even for us too, if we shut down or restart our system without running any big software or installing anything, it would restart/shut down normally as it should. I recommend you to run your laptop for atleast 1 hour, do some installations or uninstallations, play a game, watch a video clip and then try to shut down/restart. Now is it working normally? Please post
Yes. I am still skeptical. However, I could rarely get my machine to SLEEP, etc. with normal use day after day. Maybe 1 out of 20 times it would work. The more I think about things the more I think the BIOS is the main culprit because my machine never really went to sleep in the first place. It would TRY and not get there. I think when Windows calls for SLEEP or HIBERNATE or SHUT-DOWN it sends a command to the motherboard which is handled by the BIOS. If the BIOS does not react to the command correctly it seems to crash. I don't know. I am offering educated guesses as to the problem.
I will report back upon further testing. Until then I do remain skeptical. 🙂

That looks like good progress from the HP tech guy. I went through this process, but when they asked for remote access to my system I felt a little put off. I know this guy works for HP and should know what he's doing but I know plenty of people who have taken on jobs without having a clue what their doing lol. So I didn't fancy the risk. Not only that but if he can fix it so easily through remote access, how come the official fix hasn't been published for everyone? It just seems too good to be true at the moment but do some more tests and let me know how it go's! I'll definitely give it a shot if it's a definite fix.
I wasn't too worried about what the tech support employee was doing. I could see everything he was attempting. If I got nervous I could always boot him off my system with a simple click of the mouse. I also watched in the event I needed to explain this all again to someone at HP.

I have nothing in personal with you, I am writing this so that people who read your post should not hope solution has been found, and you too should read the thread carefully.
Also I am going to contact hp again today and elevate my ticket

Changed the system via "Edit" to Win 8.1.
Now two BIOS updates are offered, chose the one for Intel Processors, since mine is a Core i7 and downloaded it.
Started it, but it says that it is uncompatible with my computer, although it is proposed for mine.
msinfo32.exe says that I have a
Insyde F.34 BIOS from December 2014

By the way, I am not suggesting that what the HP tech guy did (see post #584 http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Windows-10-Laptop-won-t-go-into...) is THE SOLUTION. I simply offer it in the event that it might be. Since there will be no way to know until the machine does what it should for at least 3-4 days minimum I will at least know that I have done all that can be done, realistically.
At the very least, I know that the BIOS is upgraded and the Touchpad is working correctly. Progress, though little, is still progress.
