So what BIOS version you running now?

Well, I am pretty **bleep** sure that there is something to do with Intel HD drivers and Windows 10. 1st of all, none of my friends who have default display adapter, other than Intel, are facing any shutdown and restart issues. Secondly, for whom, have Intel as display adapter(except for thinkpads), after a fresh format, everything would work fine, unless you are connected to Internet or install Intel HD driver. Installing Intel HD driver is the one, which installs Sleep functionality in most laptops. During my initial upgrade, as I was not on Internet for 5 days, i could not get Intel HD drivers(Windows 8.1 intel drivers could not be installed in Windows 10), but Nvidia drivers could be installed. So for 5 days, I didn't face any problem, until after 5 days, I connected to the Internet, and Windows Update forcefully installed the driver. On Intel site, I got a newer version, a few days ago, updated it, but still the same issue. Incomplete shutdowb and improper restart. No idea about other laptops having Intel HD as graphics adapter. But some guys having asus laptops too had a similar issue(read in some forum, I dont remember exactly which forum but it was not HP). This seems to be some incompatibility of Intel drivers with Windows 10. Either of them are at fault. But I haven't heard any DESKTOP users having such problems. Desktop users, any??? With same issues??
No idea, when will this problem be resolved, as this issue is unhealthy for our laptop's hdd.

Today I checked for updates in the HP support app and there was this update about the wireless thing.  I updated that and now my laptop can sleep and shutdown proparly. Hopefuly this will be permanent.

So check for updates on the HP support assist and there should be an update there.

That's an older BIOS to what I have? Mine is: F.34-12/19/2014.

I am on a much newer, i.e. F.42. But the issue still persists. I dont think, BIOS has anything to do with it, because if we run our laptop for a shorter duration without any installation/uninstallation, the BIOS acts properly in shutting down and restarting our systems.

For the record, I already have the latest BIOS version and the latest mouse driver (both listed under Windows 8.1 on the HP Support site) installed on my Envy x360, and I'm still having this issue.

This does not appear to be a permanent solution... or at least not across the board for all models.

Hello, I would like to say I believe it is also not BIOS.

I was using the Windows 10 technical preview since Febuary and never had a single issue until build 10240 (which ended up being the official RTM build) came out  did these issues start happening. It's clear MS broke something.

Sometimes, I feel, this forceful Windows update is the main culprit, downloading buggy updates to our laptops. Either you download all, or nothing. Not giving us the flexibility so as to which update we wish to opt to, and in the other end, MS CEO is expecting Windows to be open source. Biggest joke of the millenium! huh!! Well, I am currently clean formatting my roomie's HP laptop, but will disable driver updates as soon after formatting and install the drivers from the HP website only. I shall do no updates from Windows except security and cumulative update, with the help of MS tool developed to block forceful windows updates, selectively, and I ll post this result soon(about this restart and shut down issue.

The update didn't really have anything to do with it. At least not for me anyways. It was the move from 8.1 to 10 that cause the problem. I wont have time tomorrow but if Re4med still has no issues by Thursday then I will be following the same thing he has done and getting on to tech support through the chat.
