Yeah that's how I see it too, we're wasting our time, although I am interested by the "installing with the creation tool" method. Seen a few positive results from that so I'd like to see what re4med comes back with. If his is working fine then I'm going for it.

I'm still having wifi problems! Even after I thought I fixed it last night! If I plug the ethernet in the test comes back perfect so it has to be something with Windows 10 on this machine. It's definitely not the channels as I've tested other devices too. I'm going to go for the clean install I think.

yeah i am also waiting for an update from @re4med.hope he updates this form very soon.

I will be upgrading from ISO -- Ummm...Microsoft Download Tool - Ummm, the Windows 10 Download Page -- Ummm.... the "create your own installation media using either a USB flash drive or a DVD" page ---  IN OTHER WORDS...this page:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 (I hope those of you who hate the word ISO are thrilled and no one should be offended because I think I used EVERY POSSIBLE option in my description of what I am doing)   :TongueOut: ....

...TODAY at some point.   I have a pretty heavy schedule at work (installing wireless projectors in the school.  These are nice toys...).  However, I will get it going while I am away from my desk.

To let you know what I have done so far:

Pavillion 15 Laptop, System SKU G6U18UA#ABA / i3 processor (crap) / 6 GB RAM (okay)

1.  I reverted at 6 PM last night ET United States.

2.  I updated Windows to the teeth through Windows Update

3.  I installed the very latest BIOS: BIOS Version/Date Insyde F.42, 3/18/2015 << I still think this is critical.

4.  I spoke with HP tech support about the upgrade and asked for recommendations.

5.  I mentioned the sleep issue / this forum / the nightmare.  HP knows about it and they are getting close to a solution which some may try here (I was not convinced).  After upgrade:

          a.  Update the Intel Graphics Chipset through Device Manager -- I was a little surprised by this because I actually did that after upgrading almost immediately upon discovering the problem.  This time, I will NOT do that immediately for any reason and see if there IS a problem.

          b.  Sleep options -- check your Hard drive shut down times.  He told me that they are showing 99999 after upgrading to 10 which is causing some of these problems with SLEEP mode.  Do this under Power >> Advanced Options

My computer SLEPT like a baby last night -- and so did I for the first time in 3 weeks.  However, Win 10 OVERALL is much better than 8.1 and I will be upgrading today.  I will report back.  I am keeping a detailed list of what I do and in what order so if this does solve things I can offer my list here.

Please apologize me, but I am not clear. Do you mean that you clean formatted and installed Windows 8.1 in your system, then upgraded all the drivers and then you are going to UPGRADE(instead of clean install) using the iso generated form the media creation tool?

Thanks for the update! Keeps us updated on the rest of it please! I'll be following the same process. I'm backing up everything I need to and making notes of exactly how I have my W10 set up, aswell as some of the changes I know I needto make. Hopefully this will be fixed once and for all!

Not a clean install. Simple reversion and upgrade to 10 through the ISO...media creation tool. I did flash my BIOS to the updated and most recent stable release. I also updated Win 8.1 to the teeth (which means, if it needed an update, it got it).

I will be starting the Win 10 upgrade in 15 minutes.

EDIT:

8:16 AM ET -- Update has begun.  To give you some idea of things.  Here is the driver for my Intel Chipset Graphics Card: 10.18.10. 3496, dated 3/11/2014  // Now I know that this is EARLIER than the one AFTER the WIN 10 upgrade (first time around).

8:24 AM ET -- Download is nearly complete.

8:27 AM ET -- Download complete.  File verification commencing.

8:38 AM ET -- Preparing upgrade / 5%

8:42 AM ET -- Getting things ready...about to be rebooted and it will commence in the install GUI.  I will updated soon.

I had no problems until windows update automatically updated my intel graphic driver from 4248 to 4256 and sleep/shutdown returned again 😕 use this https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 to disable any intel graphic driver updates
